Growing DASs as a short hedge

I like the 'skin' of Dwarf Alberta Spruces (DASs) very much, and was thinking of growing a short (4'-5') hedge with that 'skin'. So, I did searches, but surprisingly did not get any hits. Perhaps people like DASs more for their conical and topiary shapes, whatever (I myself have a spiral)

I am in USDA zone 4b and mite issues are reduced in this cold zone. Moreover, the 'skin' will always be viewed from one side only, I can thus cut away the other side of the trees, thereby halving the width of the hedge and making it twice as airy, but still retaining the precious 'skin' on the viewing side.

I wonder what my chances for success are if I start with 3'-4' specimens to grow the 4'-5' short hedge. The length of the hedge will be proportional to my chances for success :-)

Anyone has grown DASs as a short hedge/screen?
