Olivia Rose Austin will be available come spring
Comments (32)Here's a photo of one side of the bush I snapped a few min. ago lol. There's more buds on the other side too. I got some more bare roots from the Breck's sale after I got the Austins from Wayside ,that came w white leaves and looked kinda like they broke dormacy in cold storage. Wow, most of them have buds as well (Twilight Zone, Julia Child, Pretty Lady, Sheilas Perfume all have buds!!). I put a little composted bunny manure in my water when I presoaked them before planting. I think that must have gave them a little jump or something because even the ones with white growth greened right up. That, and we got some rain from that tropical storm last week. Here's Olivia....See MoreIs this Olivia Rose Austin
Comments (79)Yes. I am new to gardening. This is actually my first year with all my flowers. I decided on David Austin roses because of their beautiful cup shape. My daughter's name is Austin and she gets a kick out of having roses with her name. ORA is her favorite because it is pink. Lol!! I also have Jude the Obscure. So far both are far exceeding my expectations. Jude is definitely more robust and the scent is heavily even in its first year. I planted both in early May....See MoreOlivia Rose Austin in a vase
Comments (6)I added 4 Olivia bare roots this spring, and am most impressed with the growth of this rose, its health, its gorgeous pale blooms and how long they last, the shape of the bush....even, mysteriously, the Japanese beetles seem to leave it alone (I have seen a couple on them, but nothing like some of my other roses.) It may turn out to be my favorite of the around 50 Austins I grow/have grown in the past....See MoreHow are your roses coming along?
Comments (28)I've got tons of new growth and buds showing up, and even an occasional bloom opening. But.. right now we're back into the winter mode again... torrential rains yesterday, with clearing and sunshine half the day, then back to rain again last night and now. Sun's tryin' to come out, but it's friggin' cold. This has got to be one of the longest winters we've had in decades. I'm really getting sick of it. My poor roses don't know what to do. But for now... they're being drenched. Oh I can't wait to see all the mildew and B/S to come.......See Moreingrid_vc so. CA zone 9
