Need Art for this Bathroom Rug
Comments (12)Rather than a picture, have you thought about getting something three dimensional? The first thing that popped into my head was two or three fossil fish mounted very minimally so they appear to "float" on the wall. (easily found on ebay, or google fossil fish) Something like a corbel, or even a small freize on the wall would also be eye catching, unexpected, and unique. But please, none of that wrought iron curlicue stuff, use something that represents a REAL architectural element, preferably deco style. The link below is for an ebay seller who does reproduction plaques, he has a website too with more designs. Other than that, without being able to see the rest of the room, about all I'd do with that rug/sink combo is put the liquid soap in a stainless steel dispenser. Here is a link that might be useful: Art Deco style wall plaque...See MoreAnyone want to share their bathroom art?
Comments (14)In the master I'm going to have a mosaic I will have done of some scene in Oregon, in DD's bath I have framed vintage ads, one for Ivory soap and one for Kohler, waiting for her. (sorry no pics--although I will tell you that if you use a vintage print ad and you have any natural light, make *sure* to use UV-protective glass, because daylight will fade it *fast*). In our public bath we have a Hiroshige of a harbor waiting for us to redo the room--it was my mother's and I have kept the very mid-century (not my style mid-century, but hers) matting and framing out of honor to her. (It also happens to go with our color choices in there.) robyn, love that second piece, even if it is "in there" :)...See MoreDecor/Art for Bathroom
Comments (58)Thanks for the opinions ... Yes, the turtle wall hanging, or it could be a bowl or platter (but with the flaw, it's not food safe). I do really like turtles, but it's more of their a happy association with the trips I've taken to Hawai, not like a decorating obession or anything. My house is small, so I only have a limited amount of space, so no place for the turtle except this one place in my bathroom. The whale triptych (actually 4 pieces, not sure what that is called) behind it is absolutely gorgeous, and what originally caught my eye. But too big for the space, and way out of the range I'm willing to spend (and overpriced, to be honest) 1 hr until the craft fair closes down ....hmmm .......See MoreReview/Artwork Suggestions for Future Bathroom
Comments (12)a) It's a very pretty mood board. I wish I was as organized as you, so much ahead of time:) I guess I'll find a toilet paper holder after we're in the house already..:) b) To me, art is the best thing to have anywhere, including a powder room. Just make sure it's not very expensive and super special since I don't know what ventilation you'll have there, and moisture can ruin things. After a while. Unless the art can take anything, like ceramic art for example. And don't try to match it too hard to your colors. Go with the overall feeling you want to get. Maybe you want to reflect that wilderness around you. Maybe you want something quirky and fun. Maybe you want to illustrate a fairy tale, and put it there:) Maybe you find a really cool artistic tile. Wherever the mood takes you. You can go with a well thought-out simplicity-or to add the art that contradicts it a bit. Something more ornamental-or something more thoughtful. As in any room, you know. Actually, you can easily start with art. It can be a huge inspiration for any room. Towels and bath mats will follow. PS don't put polished tile in a potentially slippery place. I like your hexes. That vanity is very nice....See Morenosoccermom
