Why is it so hard to find the rootstock on tree lables?
Comments (14)"Chances are ..." That's just it. If people were half the experts they thought they were they would be able to make an educated guess by going down Brandon's list. I'm fairly certain my old trees are on M111/M9 or B9 and M111 and I'm not an expert. I know my Newtown Pippin is on B118 and that information does me absolutely no good except I can pretend I'm an expert on the internet and tell what rootstock my tree is on. I know any semi-dwarf where I planted that tree will either need a lot of pruning or I'll have to attempt to stunt it. I don't know what my new Stark trees are on but I'm sure in a few years I'll be able to guess according to how they react, I'm already fairly certain the dwarfs are not on G11. Since I'm not the one who has to guarantee the trees or stake my reputation on them it really doesn't matter. I'm also betting I find out why it's difficult to find Newtown Pippin on dwarfing rootstock. I didn't have the expertise to pair up the rootstock and variety when I grafted (I didn't even know what I was going to graft onto them when I ordered the rootstock). DF139 is not the rootstock, that is Miller's stock number. Miller does not give rootstock information. Grandpas, Adams County and Cummins are a few that give rootstock information. Cummins seems to be the one that has the best selection of varieties on different rootstocks whereas Grandpas pretty much tells you what you get and Adams may or may not have a selection. Go to those nurseries instead of Miller if you want rootstock information....See MoreFinding it so hard to be a stepmother...
Comments (5)Chloe, everyone is correct that your husband is the problem. The SS also has the beginnings of some behaviour problems, that will get worse as he gets older. Unless you make some big changes, this situation is going to deteriorate as your SS gets bigger and more uncontrollable, and your husband gets more accustomed to ignoring your needs and those of his younger son. The only person that can control your destiny is you. Right now, you are allowing a child to abuse you and your husband to mistreat you. You need to find out why you are letting this happen to you. I recommend that you get some counselling so that you you can explore whether or not your husband is willing and able to treat you appropriately. If you have any family or close friends, you also need to reach out to them for support at this time. This is not a situation of a little kid causing problems at your house. This is a problem in your marriage, and in your husband's ability to be a good partner and parent. It may be the case that he is not up to the task and you will need a strong support network to help you and your baby....See MoreWhy is it so hard to find marble mosaic in Canada?
Comments (5)Where are you in Canada? I'm in New Brunswick and it's hard to find anything nice here!!! We are at the end of our total kitchen reno and finally found a tile we liked locally (well in another city 1 hour away) after 2 months of looking. We purchased a great deal of our supplies for the reno from the U.S. on-line but matching tile colors can be so tricky that I didn't want to risk the return shipping costs. We don't have a Lowe's here, we have Home Depot but their selection is limited. Luckily we live only an hour from the U.S. border and drive there to pick up our parcles, which saves a ton of money in shipping. For our reno we purchased in the U.S.: all light fixtures, faucet and sink, all cabinet hardware including hinges/pulls and knobs, LG french door/double bottom freezer fridge and other stuff I can't remember....we saved a LOT of money that way....See MoreSelecting light fixture shouldn’t be this hard
Comments (17)I like that one a lot and it would coordinate well with the one you have purchased. The size will be important to know because the spots i see to hang this fixture seem to be off center and a bit odd. Make a paper template of the size and hold up to assess the look....See MoreJoseph Corlett, LLC
