Can't Use Or Search For Email Problems.

Western N. C. Win7. IE8. Charter Net. Dell Desktop. I can get Gmail although my mainstay is AOL email. I can't get to the AOL website. When searching Google for the AOL website it, and their sub sites, show up. On clicking the AOL email sub site it freezes everything on the AOL screen. Thank goodness I can get back to Google by using the back arrow.. Anyone else having the AOL email problem.

Try deleting history and cache on browser. Try using a different browser. Any change in what happens?

I have three accounts with my ISP. I think they don't allow communication among different accounts that all use their server. I don't understand why they won't let me see my messages on the two list I participate in. I can see in my Out box that these messages have gone out, but I can't see how they appear on the lists. If no one on the list directly refers to my entry I can't feel certain that the topic/response is being read by other list members. I have read somewhere that my ISP says this policy prevents duplication of information taking up my space. Huh???

is Freecycle a dead site?? I get emails but can't log in..

I have always had problems with Freecycle, I suspect the problem is actually with the Freecycle you are trying to sign up with. I suggest you try another Freecycle or two to see if you can get signed up OK. Besides the one 'local' one, I signed up with 3 or 4 others that are in the area (small towns) about 30-60 minutes away. Once you get signed up, you can get 'every' post emailed to you, or a daily digest of posts, or nothing at all. I just set my local one to send me a daily digest of the posts and opted to get nothing via email from the others. Sue

Thanks, Joe and Owbist. It it is the Brooklyn Public Library's site with a search function for the Brooklyn Eagle that I need to access as previously. This is a new problem. My computer, using Windows XP, recently automatically installed IE8. I didn't have this problem with IE7 and have never had a virus or worm from any site, including the BPL. I see others on Google complaining about this problem from other reputable sites but I'm not an expert and hesitate to disable something without the advice of knowledgeable people like you folks here. I have to be able to use the BPL's search function for the Brooklyn Eagle.

Shaddy, Move all of the messages you want to keep from the inbox and then do this. How to delete inbox/outbox files NB: Email program has to be closed. 1) Click on Start/Find/Files or Folders 2) Ensure you have c:\ selected in 'Look in' 3) Type in inbox.idx and click 'find now' 4) Ensure you can see the correct file by checking in 'in folder' so you can see if it's an outlook express or internet mail file etc 5) Right click on the file and select delete. 6) Change the search to look for inbox.mbx and click 'find now' 7) Repeat steps 4 and 5 8) Restart the PC The same procedure applies to outbox.mbx and outbox.idx

Today is Tuesday July 18 2017. It is around 10am est. AOL email is down as it has been, off and on, for a week. I called AOL 3 times over that week. The first two their representative only wanted to sell me a email maintenance plan. The third, via a different phone number, was helpful.

Yesterday, July 17, 2017 the AOL email site temporarily came back to life. One of my received email was from AOL was reminding me of my phone conversation with them that I may considering purchasing a maintenance plan. Is their intent to go from a free AOL email to one that requires a payment contract? Is that the reason my email site is "off and on"? Is it to force me into a maintenance contract?

I understand AOL and someone is/has merged. It appears AOL is going from a FREE email service to one that charges a fee I think their beginning fee is $72.00 a year ($5.99 per month). I enjoy AOL but when there are many other free providers like G Mail offering a free service it seems extremely untimely.

Is anyone else having an AOL email problem? Good luck.

Why not just get an gmail account. Why are you fooling around with AOL?
