Decor above large sectional

Hello! So I got a gallery wall in a box from pottery barn that I was planning to put above our couch, but it just looks way too dinky on such a massive wall. I really don't want to go buy a huge piece of art for it, wondering if anyone has alternative suggestions? (ignore the cutouts for my dinky gallery wall- that obviously won't be going there any more). Thank you for the help!

Come on PROs, you should know better than to recommend factory made art when there is plenty of art out there by real artists often for the same price. $99 at Homegoods? Spend that amount or less at Society 6 and support real artists making real work.

Please please please do NOT buy art from big box stores!

ONLY buy art from a place where the artist's name is listed.

Get art from places that benefit the artists themselves (so not a mass produced place like homegoods or any big store) the following sites have work from real artists but with affordable options. You probably can find real art by real artists for less than you would get from those mass produced factory art places like pier 1.

It doesn't have to be the original painting. Many artists sell prints of their own work for crazy reasonable prices.

Don't be intimidated. You can get nice work from an artist for under 100, 200, 300, etc. Sometimes it's more, but these sites all tend to have affordable options.

And you can often search by price, color, or theme. Loved your trip to Switzerland? You can find paintings of the alps. Avid bird watcher? Find photos or prints or your favorite woodpecker. Love the serene ocean? Tons of seascapes out there.

Bad impersonal factory art can cost the same as real art from the artists themselves, so why not spend your money on real meaningful art?

You have two large walls there... yes, dinky :)

Other than art you are looking at a very large mirror or other... you could do a round mirror in the center and a gallery. I hate to see a large metal and wood decor go up!!

something as above with your own style pieces left and right vs. what is shown :)

floating shelves with decor... this is pretty interesting IMO... you could add different

frame tones and some other simple elements.

random mirror collage different shapes and sizes, different frames. some antique glass some not...

THIS is an excellent tutorial by Emily Henderson on hanging art. There are a few examples of walls similar to those in your room although not all are above sectionals. Perhaps you will find inspiration in the tutorial.

I had checked out their website already and it sounds good. I just want to make sure that it's a quality product and not one of those "you get what you pay for" things. Have you gotten your sofa yet and are you happy with it? What about the quality of the fabric and the feel of the cushions? I want a sofa that is pretty cushy and I was going to upgrade to the down option. Please let me know your impressions - it would be really helpful. I was also researching a sofa from Carolinachair.com. They seem to have a little bit better quality and better fabric choices, but the sofa I want is also about $2,000 more and I don't know that it's worth spending the extra money. Any input is appreciated.

Does the local artist have another piece available? Or is that out of your budget for now? If you have to find something inexpensive now, I'd consider a large engineering print from your local Staples. If you have an Ikea near you, buy the largest frame there you can afford and have an engineering print made to fit. You do not have to push the sofa into the corner. You could center the sofa on the wall and put a table in the corner. Placement of photo arrangements can depend on photo size. Small photos, even 5x7, are best placed where a viewer can get up close to see the details. I think you should enlarge photos to 8x10 or greater for best viewing on the wall over the sofa.

Find a lighter color on the paint strip and continue painting with it all the way up and ceiling. If the media stand can be painted do it is wall color but a gloss finish. Add window treatments; throw pillows; ottoman with a large tray; Pottery Barn…used these in a client’s den. If I remember correctly the blue/green of the walls is in the print, but it leans more to your sectional. Walmart Forget about throw pillows…they always will wind up on the floor.

I suggest one large or two smaller pieces. You want to cover something like 60-75% the width of the couch on that wall. A big poster of something you love can be the way to go...

Is not wanting to buy a huge piece of art for the wall about the look of a huge single piece, or the cost of a huge single piece? If the issue is cost, a quilt, tapestry, or other textile wall hanging might be a more affordable option (not that some of these aren't expensive, too, but there are some less expensive options). You can search for wall hanging on Etsy and filter by the price range you're willing to pay.

You can often get a large piece of art at HomeGoods for $99 if you willing to wait for the right thing to come along.

They sell large pieces at Pier I also.
