I am still deciding what I want to do. Mulling maybe is a better word. Sallymo, I had a painter out for my foyer yesterday. He is coming back with my estimate today and the foyer will be painted withing the next month regardless of who paints it. I may decide to go that way while I have a painter here. I am sort of focused on my finals until Friday and I may run after and see what I can find. I thought perhaps some pictures matted in cream (black and whites or sepia) of my children and family would bring a good feel to the room and the cream mattings would brighten things up a little if I went that route. I am also am looking at pillow covers on Etsy in patterns to cover my pillows. I thought I could still use the same forms and sizes and find a brown linen, a blue linen and then I really like the pottery barn ones. They should fit my current smaller pillows. I am sort of getting a vision. I want new lamps and I just need to find them!

Thank you for the responses. I re-read my post, sounds a bit rambling. I just finished looking at an Elle Decor, then going into a Marshall's Homegoods...and feeling overwhelmed. Fortunately I *LOVE* eclectic style. I like quirky, and I already know that I don't want my home to look like a builders model or that every room look like it was decorated from the same store. That being said...I have seen some pictures of "eclectic" that pretty much look like "crazy" so I am just wary of that. hilltop-yes, I can see you get what I am feeling! I like that quote about having anything, just not everything. So true, and I will try to remember that. forhgtv-For some reason, I feel very strongly that the exterior of a house should be somewhat continued inside...and I am not sure why I feel this way? I guess because I do feel strongly about it...I should roll with it and not fight it. I do like my house exterior, so that's a plus. I do agree about my friends'houses. You know that feeling after having your first glass of wine, and everyone is talking and laughing and the kids are playing outside...and you notice some quirky piece of art or furniture...or how the light of the sunset changes the hue of the wall paint...or how the sleek stainless steel bowl of chips looks so cool against the rough, rustic wood table. THAT'S the feeling I want people to get in *MY* house...although I know it has more to do with the good company (and good wine, LOL) than anything else. cear-yes, I am trying to do that. You know, as depressing as this is...I think being on a tight budget makes it difficult, too. I saw a piece of artwork that i loved...and considered it for our dining room. It was $400 and while that is not much for artwork for some people...it is a lot of $$$ when I don't have much of anything else in the dining room. I am afraid that even though I love this piece of art...now I am locked into that color scheme/style...and I still have not done window treatments, or gotten an area rug etc. I just don't know what to start with, and if money was not such a big issue, I could say, "Well, if this piece of art doesn't work in here, I'll get something else." I am scared to commit. But sheesh...i gotta start somewhere, and I know this! Ok, I am afraid I am rambling again. I am glad to hear the word "eclectic" tossed around, because that is the direction I am leaning towards anyway. Thanks again.

That's okay about the bed! I think it's great to look at higher priced items anyway to get inspiration then find something less pricey in that same style :) I only suggested the stikwood as a way to draw in some interest and texture and visual on that tall wall but it's totally not the only option in doing so. You could possibly do a large print on the wall. That bedding color is really nice and a great accent color! one thing to remember you don't have to rush to but a room together. And have it look like you just went to a catalog and bought everything. Surround yourself with what you really love. And you will be much more pleased with the outcome.

Horrible Sofa.. I bought the Sven Leather sofa and the back cusions got flat in 8 months, we put it in front of the TV qnd use it daily. ARTICLE sent me the back cusions replacements, but they leather color is lighter, faded and it seems very stiff (maybe storred incorrectly). I instered couple od dawn pillows in the back cusions which bought me around a year. Now it looks horrible and deformed. Now installing the replacements which would probaby last 8 motnhs as well, then will add the dawn pillows to buy another year. will end up getting 4 years out of this thing!! The side round pillows sagged after a year, they sell them for $180! My 12 years old Ikea leather sofa which I moved to the basement has 0 sag what sp ever! Very comfortable, no sag what so ever, the leather peeled off little at some placese, corners but thats about it (after 12 years). Do yourself a favor and buy from Ikea, they have some high end leather sofas, prices are close to Article and quality is much better!
