How to change over to netafim fixed gph drippers?
Comments (4)Jimi, Do a physical water audit. The film delivers water based on line pressure. This happens, if the drip line is level along its length, because pressure loss occurs at each orifice. A non-clogging drip line is made with no restrictions at the openings. It is essentially a pipe with holes drilled into it. Which reminds me, look up PVC drip lines in past threads. Back to subject. If the drip line slope downward at 1.5% slope it tends to increase the pressure along the line while it is being lost at the orifices. Thus making flow more equal at all orifices. Now for the audit, take cups and bury them under the drip line at intervals along its length. Time a specific long irrigation cycle and measure the depths in each cup. You should see the variation of water application along the lines length. You would have to water more to get the dryer side watered adequately and the nearer side will be over watered. The obvious comparison is to raise your system on stakes at 1.5 degree slope and do another audit. A slightly raised system is easier to see clogging. With a well supplied system you not only have to deal with particles in the water but algae that will form at the orifices if sitting on the wet ground. Check out the PVC system, it take care of these problems and easy to remove and replace for continued long-term use. JMHO aloha...See MoreHow to fix rubbing cross branches without pruning
Comments (10)presuming an oak can live 100 years ... are you going to be able to take care of it for that long????? proper removal of one or the other branch is the way to go .... anything else you dream up is contrary to nature .... are you going to add plastic with the sleeves ... wont that trap water.. increase winter heat trapping.. etc ... anything you think up.... i can find variables which will create bigger problems than the one you are trying to fix ... canopy reduction.. done properly ... will simply stimulate the tree to grow ... I AM NOT TALKING ABUT TOPPING .... have it taken care of properly.. you have a heritage tree ... one that has the potential to live longer than your great grandchildren ... take care of it.. if you do not take care of it.. the tree will shed one or the other of the branches itself.. sooner or later.. [maybe not in your lifetime] through storm damage.. insect damage.. or disease damage.. or all of the above ... so do it right... ken...See MoreHow to prune to fix being leggy
Comments (7)it looks like etoliation ... stretching .... due to lack of proper lighting .. and after 4 years.. i suspect the media is wearing out.. so there is improper water management ... lastly.. it looks chained to the wall and maybe it doesnt like that... lol ... once you get the ID.. take it to a search engine.. and add the word PROPAGATION ... and look at the videos.. if any ... there arent many houseplants that cant be easily propagated.. that being the main reason they are cheap house plants ... cloning new pieces. leaves you with a new plant.. and is the best way to go ... you will end up with the exact same plant.. just in a younger form ... ken...See MoreHow do I fix this weeping tree quickly
Comments (16)If 'Hakuro-nishiki' it never was an actual weeping tree in the usual sense. Because they resemble the rest other than being more robust the stronger branches are probably reversions to mostly green leaves with associated greater vigor. Rather than sprouts coming from whatever willow was used for the trunk (I have seen French pink pussy willow used as a trunk for combinations with dappled willow on top - this produces different, more vertical shoot growth than what is being shown here). With annual hard pruning at end of winter often being a routine maintenance procedure for well established specimens of dappled (and often other kinds of) willow in garden settings anyway that is all that needs to be done in this instance. Done promptly the renewed specimen will have plenty of time to rebound by summer opening times....See Moreken_adrian Adrian MI cold Z5
