What about Neolith/Dekton

Neolith and Dekton are roughly the same thing. They are basically like giant slabs of porcelain tile. They are steadily growing in popularity because they have the benefits of porcelain tile - i.e. won't stain, scratch, etch, or scorch - plus provide one of the most realistic, if not THE most realistic marble "fake" out there.

The biggest potential problems are edge chipping when there is an overhang (a problem I suspect you will face with any thin stone when trying to do an overhang), or chipping due to poor fabrication. Fabricator skill is hugely important and variable for this material.

You would probably be better served doing a search of the kitchen forums for Neolith. It is discussed at length quite often. 0.5 inches is the standard slab thickness, and while most people build up their edges with a miter to look like a thicker slab, there are definitely posts on here from people who have installed it with the thin edge.

oh! very interesting!! I definitely like the advantages. Now if possible I was as minimal of overhang as possible. I like my countertop to be as flush to the cabinets as possible. So hopefully that minimizes edge chipping.

There is something I looked at recently called porcelain slabs. They are thinner like this but actually made of porcelain tile material. They had several marble look ones and some with honed finish could be ordered.

I think dekton and neolith are porcelain slabs type material.. I just have to find a fabricator/installer in NY area.

The problem with the sintereds (Neolith,Dekton) is the color is a picture on a porcelain tile; extremely thin. You can have your thin edge, but it can't match the deck unless the deck looks like polished white tile. And you got to profile the raw edge a bit.

Take a piece of tile. Glue a picture on it. That's sintered in a way. The pattern/color you see on the top (deck) is only as thin as paper. Unlike Corian or engineered stone or granite, the color does not go all the way through the slab. The only way to make it look like it does go all the way through is to miter the edge.

It doesn't seem like a 1/4 inch more thickness would make much difference except to improve the mitered edge if you need one. The tops look undersized to me in the pictures you posted. What is it you like about the skinny tops?

think neolith is looking like the way I could go. Now I just have to find a good experienced fabricator who isn't afraid of the product or trying to talk me towards quartz or granite.

There are several other brands of similar materials. The main ones that have had a few other discussions on this board come from Stone Peak, MSI and ThinSlab. While Neolith/Dekton generate the most discussion, I would definitely check out the other products, especially if you are after a particular finish.

I agree that the edge profile would be a problem with a obviously veined countertop. But an all white countertop or even one with faint, thin veining should not be a problem at all with a thin profile edge. The main body color matches, and there is very little to see beyond that on a thin edge.

I would imagine that the NYC area has a lot of Neolith installs, so you should be able to find an experienced installer. If you contact Neolith, they would direct you to their recommended installers.

Pricing reports on this forum have varied quite a bit. Some people find it insanely high priced in their region, others find it quite a bargain. There is no way to know until you start pricing it out locally. You may also try asking the question directly in the Kitchens forum, as I don't recall if any of the previous posters who have discussed pricing have been from the NYC area.

All that being said, should you strike out with this material, I know that other stones do come in thin versions, it is just about what is available locally for you. Polycor, in particular, makes and heavily markets their granites and marbles in 1cm slabs.

You need a copywriter desperately. Mistakes like these scream "English as a Second Language" (ESL). These mistakes give potential customers a hint that your product is Chinese, as the Chinese are notoriously too cheap to hire good copy. There is enough bias against Chinese quartz, much of it unjustified, and your copy is not helping.

If you can't inspire confidence with your copy, how can you inspire confidence in your product?
