Hesitant to Buy Hooker Furniture Dining Room Collection
Comments (3)Thanks for the info. After looking at several posts and follow-ups in this forum and thinking about all day I came to the conclusion that if I was having that much difficulty deciding whether or not to buy the furniture, it probably wasn't the furniture for me. Took my husband and daughter shopping tonight and finally found another dining room set which I absolutely fell in love with. Bought it on the spot. I've only been looking for a little over a year (no joke). Oh, and not to seem totally stupid, but since I'm not real savvy when it comes to the language used in these posts, could you plese tell me what "MDF" is. If nothing else, I'm learning a lot in this forum....See MoreWoohoo! New rugs! Long live Craigslist!
Comments (17)Daisyadair, thanks! Can you please post a picture of your new floors? I'd love to see them. How do you like them so far? Did you have wood floors before? ~~ Debi, try haunting that section. For instance, look up "rug" (or whatever you want) and keep the page open. Then "refresh" the window often, and keep reading the new ads. If you see anything that interests you, write the seller immediately, don't wait. They sell on a "first come" basis and you want to be first. Then go and see it even if you're not sure. Good luck! I hope we'll be reading about your fabulous find soon. :-)...See MoreWill this Craigslist Dining Room Set fit in my Dining Room?
Comments (13)Thank you for your replies. kew 2006: I moved the living room furniture in front of the wall unit in several different configurations. Unfortunately, it just looks awful. It is way too crowded and impractical with furniture blocking the wall unit. So I guess the issue is function vs. aesthetics. If I get the DR set, the wall unit has got to go. But since I need the storage space, I would probably buy a wall of Ikea bookcases and put them in a bedroom. Is the new DR worth the trouble?...See MoreMaine Craigslist - another incredible score!
Comments (42)that sounds great! if you are in a large city, there is usually a jr. league thrift sale every year. Let me tell you, these poor ladies have to give new, or look like new, 5 items! I think they go to art shows just to buy things for it. I have scored big time, artsie phartsi and even a pin i know is silver, and i think real gold, hand made. $2. All that art show stuff is under $2. Giant paintings, under $5. the line starts at 7 am and winds for blocks, we always went late and still got deals. Another one we had was for a local college, the college was private, but was housed in a gorgeous hotel built by a railroad baron. Had a museum and the school had it's own art gallery. Anyone who was anyone in the city belonged to their museum and sat on their board. That sale was to die for. Real silver silverware, antique lace, couches for like $200 or less with those expensive tags in them. Yummmy! Just a matter of knowing where to go. Locally, we have weekly auctions. People have no idea of value. Delmarva is like an antiques mecca. this auction will sell a whole table for $1, yeah most is nearly valueless, but 1/3-1/2 is really something! and furnishings! gotta go, my mouth is watering....See MoreTammy Lawhorn
