Wedding Wear Updates
Comments (22)Maire_cate, I love L&T! My favorite place to shop for special occasion dresses, but there is no location near me. There is one in my hometown. No weddings this summer, but I needed a dress for an awards ceremony at my conference (I became recognized as a Fellow in my professional organization) and dinner. I went to the largest location of local dept store since they have a giant special occasion dress section figuring *something* had to work. I found this Ann Klein dress that is very figure flattering--though I normally have trouble with sheath styles, and I am not at the size I would like to be. I did not feel either overdressed or under-dressed. Plus, It is a knit. Then I went upstairs and tried on some shapewear with it. I felt as good as I could. It was the first dress I tried on out of a whole bunch. Many of the Anne Klein dresses were very flattering. I have a similar-looking vintage cocktail handbag from my mom, and I forgot to pack it. Here is a link that might be useful: Anne Klein dress...See Moreupdate on the wedding ordeal
Comments (12)"Me, if i knew my mother was an alcoholic with her new dh, i would warn them to behave. By day one being drunk by the pool i would have told them to leave and not attend the wedding. I wonder what your SD's husband and his family had to say about it." Mother and her BF were told to behave and they were warned. To tell them to leave and not attend would cause a major scandal and a fight, mother is unpredictable and her BF is even worse. They would start a major scandal and ruin everything even worse. BM is not married to him, he is not DH. BM was told not to bring him but then BM threatened that she won't show up either. SD was too embrassed not to have her mother there and too scared of consequences. BM is a dirty fighter. As about groom's family, they understood that if BM and her BF choose to make A$$es out of themselves, then SD can't do anything about it. They didn't hold that against anyone. We don't choose our parents. I just naivelly expected her to apologize to her daughters for inappropriate behavior of herself and her BF and not helping at the wedding, she never did....See MoreWedding planning update
Comments (32)Thank you everyone for your great ideas and practical suggestions. I will speak to a florist in the next week or so and get an idea of what is available in October. As far as the dress goes, there is a good chance that I will be able to find something relatively inexpensive through a friend of mine who owns a dress shop. Any money I saved, will go towards flying in those expensive peonies. When I told my guy that I was leaning towards pennies, he smiled and said he didn't like the autumn pallet. It was to "kitschy " I asked him why he didn't say anything, and he said it was because it seemed like I loved it. He's a keeper. Kmarchese, what are the chances that your daughter and I picked the same inn? Mine is also on the finger Lakes, but I doubt it's known as a small inn. Although the lake is. :-) if I strike out with my friend and the dress, I will look in Rochester and or Philly. I know where Henrietta is, I will add that store to the top of my list in Rochester....See MoreWedding update
Comments (19)You guys are so nice! I'm so glad you like the idea. To be honest, I'm not really sure what a pretzel dipping bar is, but I basically want soft pretzels with different sauces for dipping i.e. cheddar/beer, mustard, and whatever else is customary. I just called it a pretzel bar. I'm hoping the chef can come up with something more definitive. Funky, what kind of dips have you seen? I also found a Craigslist set of six beer steins today in the next town over for $40. They are OK, but will look well with flowers. Some have sports teams. (I know, )but they will do in a pinch....See MoreRelated Professionals
