stx38 dies when pto engaged - old man needs help!
Comments (20)***"Mounted in plastic"*** Unless Deere has included some sort of "ring terminal" to the mounting, there is no need to separate the PTO switch from the plastic mounting panel. You said that the brake switch had been defeated before you acquired this mower and now the wires are taped to the brake pedal. OK, I don't see anything in the diagram where a defect in the brake switch could cause a problem in the operation of the engine that that occurs ONLY when the PTO switch is turned ON. By this I mean that any problem in the brake switch that could affect how the engine runs..........would affect the engine even without pulling the PTO switch to the ON position, so we can move on from that and go to the PTO switch itself. After studying this diagram at length/depth.......I believe the problem (engine wants to die when PTO switch is turned ON) can only be due to a defective PTO switch. And I think it must be because the PTO switch is bleeding some voltage into the magneto kill circuit which then upsets the normal spark making function of the ignition system. The way I see it, there are 3 ways you can test this: Option A, disconnect the wire pigtail from the PTO clutch and connect 2 independent, temporary wires to the clutch, be sure to maintain the correct polarity, Blue wire is the hot side, Black wire is the ground side. With the temporary wires in place, and the engine running, touch the temporary wire for the hot side of clutch to the "Battery hot" post of the starter solenoid (safer than the battery hot on battery). If the PTO clutch engages without affecting how the engine runs...........defective PTO switch. Option B, Disconnect (or cut) the White wire lead that serves the PTO switch (if you choose to cut, make sure you cut so it can be restored). With this white wire out of the equation, start the engine and turn the PTO switch ON. If the engine runs OK now, replace the defective PTO switch. Option C, Replace the PTO switch and hope for success....See MoreAm I special or is this engaged man just a cheater?
Comments (27)Great for you, Always confused, you should change your name to "always wonderful", or "always a model for standing up for yourself". I agree with Emily, he has a nerve to say "i will always love you". See, he is manipulating you, trying to make you hang on with a thread to him, leaving you dangling, with that last statement. Its cruel. Throwing away a flippant "I love you" says a lot about his character. Makes you wonder if he says that to his fiance, does he know what it means. It reminds me of that Seinfeld episode, where the group goes up to a holidays house, to look at their friends baby, who turns out to be ugly. Elaine thought the doctor liked her, because he said she was "breathtaking", inflated her ego. Then he said the baby was "breathtaking", and she fell in a heap. The point is, the comment was flippant and the doctor probably said that to lots of people. Perhaps like the fiance cheater. Good luck to you, I look forward to your next posting entitled "In love with a wonderful man". Popi...See Moregot involved with an engaged man
Comments (11)Yo, Silvia, not to back off of my opinion that this is a nonsense post, but...... Except for the OP's using of the word "pursued" one time, I think the whole thing is pretty unclear. She even said he was up-front with her about ALL of this self-serving stupidness and SHE decided to stick around. No deception was mentioned. Now she's whining about it and feels so bad and wants a fan-club to help her feel justified, apparently....although I really have no idea what she wants. She volunteered to be crapped on and afterward she's discovered she doesn't like crap. I'm having a little trouble with my own sympathy-generator. I know you've got axes to grind from previous experience (don't we all?) but this is a bit beyond, even for you, IMHO....See MoreSD's strange engagement....possible disaster..
Comments (54)sylvia, voice of reason...:) yeap, it is the same one sylvia. yeap, unhealthy. the younger one does not have "daddy" issue. I do not know what is the reason for this, it must be somehow related to her not talking to anyone else in the family and having no friends. I understand she is upset with parents' divorce but according to SO she was this way when parents were married. last year she refused to fly with mom and younger SD to grandpa's 80s birthday. That was the time she prefered to go to a romantic getaway with dad. BM was very upset. and it was strange that SD wanted to go with dad while younger SD was gone, it would make more sense to go both sisters with dad. This year she asked dad to take her to Bahamas, (what???) he said :no. DD went on vacations with dad but she lived primarily wiht me and when visiting dad they would go on vacations but they also had DD's brother with them and X's wife. And none of these vacations were romantic getaways. SD always went wiht dad on trips even when he was still married to mom. And she is 26, not a teenager. I don't think there is anything very sick about it, but there is some kind of element of sickness in it. Younger SD has nothing like that. I don't know about keds, but maybe time to shop for a good pair of running shoes lol......See MoreSammy
