Comments (5)What a great story this is. I know my kitties will never be able to do such a thing for me, but all our pets, as Gandle says in a different thread, make our lives more complete. Thanks for sharing this tale....See MoreMemorial Rose Garden in honor of my beloved mother n law
Comments (5)What a touching and loving thing for you to do; your husband is a very lucky man. I too am not from your area but would think some of the smaller tea roses like Westside Rose Cream Tea would be wonderful; it blooms all the time and is bushy with lovely large blooms. There are wonderful climbers like Reve d'Or which bloom practically all the time. Cl. Pinkie is a darling rose you might consider. I hope that people from your area will chime in to help you with this wonderful project. The old roses like teas, Chinas and noisettes are beautiful and romantic, and will actually do better than many modern roses in terms of vigor and disease resistance. Chamblee's is a good on-line vendor in your part of the country. Have a look at their site and find some things you like and then you can always come back to the forum to ask advice about these. This is a wonderful project you're undertaking and we'd love to help you make it something beautiful, something your wonderful mother-in-law would have appreciated, and a peaceful spot for your husband to spend time being with her. Comments (6)I know how you are feeling. I dread this time of year, too. It starts with Mother's Day, then Millie's birthday on May 20 (she would have been 10 this year) and then June 17, the dreadful day that my son and granddaughter died. It will be four years, and although we're better, we're changed and at times, grief hits us so hard that we can almost not bear it. We, too, don't know where the ashes are. Our daughter-in-law would not tell us, although I think they were scattered in Lake Michigan. We are beginning work on our memory garden; lots of the ideas came from this site. I bet if you search this forum, you'll find some great ideas. I know I did. We hope to start this weekend, but talking out the shape, the plants, finding a bench, and so forth has been healing for my husband and me. I'll share when we get underway. You're in my prayers....See MoreHonoring my father (baby naming)
Comments (12)Before I read down as to what your girl's name suggestion could be, I thought like the others, and said Alana. Then I was blown away when you said Alana! What is your husband's first name? When I was still carrying my son that was stillborn, I was going to name him Justin, then when I learned he had died in utero, I just couldn't name him that, and so we named him after his father. But when I had my daughter the following year, I named her Erica Justine. I never gave it a thought, but months later it occured to me that Justine was the femine "version" I guess you'd say, of Justin. I have no other children, but I feel a part of Erica's brother lives on with her. Good luck with your pregnancy, and let us know what you decide. Carrying on a name in some form is a living memorial to those no longer with us. Emma...See Moresultry_jasmine_nights (Florida-9a-ish)
