Looking for window treatment advice - pic included
Comments (11)Thanks for the responses. I agree, kathyga, that just a valance would not be right for these windows. I really think side panels would look great, but also need something for light control. So do I really need to worry that much about hiding the pleated shades? If I choose a color in the tan family, maybe they won't be too noticeable when they're raised all the way up. I did consider woven shades, annie1971, but don't want the cords hanging down when the shades are at the top. I also think with the size of the windows, the bulk at the top would be too much. Pleated shades or cellular shades would compact to just a few inches. So it all boils down to this. I want cellular shades because I can get them cordless and I think side panels would look nice, but can I use the two of them together without anything across the top????? Thanks!!!!...See MoreHelp with window treatment for kids' rooms
Comments (10)I'd consider removing the valance and installing blackout curtains, outside mount, over the shade. I think curtains on rings are very very very easy to draw open or closed! DK if this makes any difference, but my kids were very very very early risers around that age...like 4:30/5am. Didn't matter how dark it was in their room LOL! Edit -- I just wanted to add that I really love the window arrangement in that room, it will be fun to see how it turns out when you are finished!...See MoreLooking for window panel advice for a kids room

Comments (61)beautiful room.......I would paint the dining room, and only the dining room in a warm creamy neutral that enhances the wood tones in the rest of the area and get it completely designed and used....then in a year you can see if the rest of the wood in the other rooms needs doing and if you want to, which I think you and your husband will because when you do paint the dining room it will put the rest of the wood in the Shade, and it will become obvious that the paint really looks better and the view will be much improved out the amazing windows...... on husbands: my hubs is a chemical engineer and as a man he sees wood finishes as already uniquely done and why do something over when it is functioning perfectly, and is beautiful in the bargain, I think it is a GUY thing to not touch wood......my 2 cents. But a WOMAN think to improve the nest....See MoreG Drusc
