Laptop will not accept the password

Again, I come to you all for help in determining if my 4+ year old laptop can be doctored or is it time for last rites?

I have a Toshiba Satellite L875D laptop with 6 GB of memory and AMD 6 processor with a 620 GB HD and Windows 10.

This is IMHO a weird situation. Honestly, I'm not on drugs nor have I been drinking. A couple of days ago, I was reading articles on a news site that I've used frequently with no prior problems when the screen would not hold on one scene, things were rolling and vibrating. I learned at that time, I could hold the Control button down and the screen would stabilize. Once this began the only way to turn it off has been to power it down by holding the power button down till it shuts off. I was able to run Avast and Malwarebytes scans but can't run a SuperAntiSpyware scan. Nothing was found on either scan.

When this first started, I was able to get signed in and downloaded a couple of files I needed for a project before the shaking, etc. started. This caused me to wonder if is a heat issue. However, the problem appears to have progressed as I cannot input a password to get into the computer, let alone do anything to attempt correcting the issue. When I attempt to input a password it automatically inputs a stream of dots all the way across the password box and I am unable to go further into the boot process.

Is it infected or has some hardware gone bad?

Your insight and comments are welcome.
