Question on multi color grafted adeniums
Comments (15)Those are some great plants you have there. I have only ever seen one Adenium 'in the flesh' for sale here in the UK so for what my humble opinion is worth....my choice would be a triple graft in 3 harmonising colours. If they could be in bloom at the same time as others suggest, I'm sure that would be a real plus point and a definite 'must' for any multi-graft I would think. Then, on thinking about this even further, if they bloomed in succession, you would have the potential of extending the flowering season to months of flowers on one plant surely?? The possibilities and therefore opinions are endless. Gill from the UK. P.S. I would also be very interested in an Adenium plant of any shape/flower colour/specie to save me from growing from seed. lol!...See MoreGrafted Adenium invasion has begun
Comments (6)I'm not so sure you can compare orchids to Adeniums. The knowledgeable hobbyists that grow Adeniums now don't buy from box stores and probably won't unless they see a super deal. Don't see those much in the box market. For instance, there is a big quality difference in what you can buy at a well known cactus and succulent nursery anywhere in the USA and a grower that deals strictly with many forms of Adenium. I don't see box stores competing in that area anyway. They'll pick up few here and there, but for the most part it has to be real cheap. I've been asked a number of times to stock a couple of those stores in my area and I refuse. They want below market priced crap and you to foot the bill if they can't keep it alive. I don't mess with crap. And for the most part, neither will collectors. Sure the average joe will jump all over them and think real growers are overpriced when it comes to fresh grafted stuff or even quality sitting there right before their eyes. But the hobbyist may pay $150.00 or more for a well established specimen. It's been that way in bonsai for 20 years and not much has changed. It just weeded out the business man that couldn't adapt to the times. Adaptation is what makes things work. Trying to match photos on a website is not wise. I can show you 4 different photos of blooms on the same plant at different times of the year that look nothing alike. Weather conditions, greenhouse or outdoors, season, nutrients, and sun intensity all play a roll in bloom color. randy...See MoreSaving Grafted Adenium...
Comments (2)Dobbers, Don't know much about Adenium, but I've grown some pachycaul plants (and I guess the Adenium Genius is out of the office)... I'd cauterize everything with Rootone (with the fungicide)or similar product, using hygienic instruments and lots of alcohol on cut-and-the-dusted surfaces after each cutting and before the dusting, ensuring that the only pieces you're saving are those with completely healthy tissue. I guess you're dealing with the usual problems of grafted plants, not enough sun and heat and too much water. I don't know nor care to speculate where the rot was introduced, but clearly you need some heat and sun, and bottom heat would help get the plant growing again. I have never grown anything on a graft but an Aztekium, and I remember said A. genius describing the problems of grafted plants (it takes an expert and not just anyone to make a successful one), but I hope these simple steps help....See MoreMY ADENIUM GRAFTING COLLECTIONS
Comments (3)Hi Kumar. nice plant you have there. What is the name of the flower and what soil mix are you using? Is it not the same flower i guess but the same soil mix, river zand and humus?...See MoreLaurel Mather
