One Sprinkler Head has Little Pressure
Comments (1)Ryanese, You are on the right track. There is some type of blockage if you do not see any obvious wet areas along the laterals path. Start from the sprinkler and work your way back. The important info is that the other heads in that zone are operating correctly. So the only possibility is that that lateral is damaged or restricted in some way. Comments (3)L :) I'm sure it's not a pressure problem. Our pressure is 80psi. We cleaned/flushed the heads when we reworked the station but will check it again. HOWEVER, something I just discovered shortly after I asked this question, is we DO have a broken line or sprinkler head, but not on that station, and all the other stations pop up within 3 seconds....that trouble station takes about 18 seconds to get going. I just discovered a popup that was standing in water all around it. We've turned the water off to the system till my husband has time to track down the leak/break. The station was taking a long time to startup before the lleak. Thanks, M...See MoreIncreasing Pressure at Sprinkler Heads?
Comments (1)Wrong, Decreasing the pipe size will not increase the pressure, just increases the velocity. You may want to section the piping into two or three zones with bigger gpm nozzles. Glancing through various catalogs, most sprinklers required a 8-9 gpm nozzle at 50psi to achieve a 50 foot radius. I do not know what your pumping specs are so as to be able to provide you with any other info. Bigger pipe has less pressure loss than a smaller pipe at the same gpm....See MoreHow to adjust sprinkler heads
Comments (4)You are right... it is not too complicated; sounds like the sprinkler guy is trying to ensure you call him in the future for help.... Anyhow, each manufaturer is a little different.... so the question is... what type do you have? I use toro and hunter rotors... they have a really good description of how to adjust them at www.toro.com On mine, the left most part of the arc is permantly set, to adjust it you actually screw the entire head in further or less, depending on the need.... it is the right part of the arc that is trickier... the web site shows better than I can explain in writing. On my heads, there is a tool that is just used to change out the nozzles (bigger holes provide more gph, ect), and a regular phillips head scre driver is used to adjust the exiting height of the water flow... had one head that was shooting almost striaght up once... a couple turns, and wala... it was shooting about 45 degrees....See Morebmelz
