Bosch vs Miele dishwasher
Comments (67)We have both brands of dishwashers in our households. Total of four, two Miele and two Bosch. There are pros and cons with both of them. With the Bosch, which we use daily, I feel I can get more dishes in the dishwasher than the Miele. However to get the dishes completely dry you have to crack the dishwasher open yourself immediately after it is done washing. the Bosch gets things much cleaner than the Miele as far as caked on food. The Miele on the other hand is just as wonderful as the Bosch but has a few extra features that I wish the Bosch had. The Miele when it is done washing has an arm that automatically opens the dishwasher to allow the dishes to dry. I have found on some occasions trouble with this because the arm does not always go back in and it takes several tries to get it fixed and back in order to run another load. However I love the fact that it has the utensil shelf, I feel like I get more utensils in the dishwasher with the Miele than the Bosch utensil basket and with a family of 7 I need to get as much washed in one load as possible. The Miele also has a funky bottom rack on the left side and is hard to load pots and pans because it seems as if it is made for square dishes and a cookie sheet behind it. Whereas with the Bosch you can just keep loading and loading and also change the layout of the rack with a couple of clicks on the top and bottom. Either dishwasher you go with you will be absolutely happy with. Both dishwashers are the best you can buy and the one feature about these two brands are that they actually heat their own water up before putting it on the dishes which helps to get them cleaner compared to other brands. If you have never had one or the other you won't even notice the differences between them....See Morewhich miele or which bosch dishwasher?
Comments (17)I've never heard anyone refer to any appliance brand as a "luxury" brand except for you ss: always glad to oblige: Off-GW: Luxury kitchen appliances from google. Note that some of these are perfectly legitimate uses of luxury. Others want to sell you or point you explicitly to "luxury appliances" - a term you contend I have coined. Those are the ones that are germane here. On-GW: One particular link I picked up. Others can also be found. I bought the Miele La Perla because I wanted THE BEST. Sorry, I'm an engineer. You'll have to define "THE BEST". ut I do know that you pay extra for thoughtfulness of design, technology, and function. And how much do you pay for the "Cheese" cycle? :-) My La Perla is a pleasure to use, makes the kitchen look striking, and cleans like a champ. I'm really glad to hear that your machine is washing well again. Was it not you who was posting a daily update on what was left on your dishes in every wash? Perhaps I've got my dishwasher complainants mixed up. To me it was worth it, And really, that is all that is important. You want to be able to strike a balance between feeling short-changed and feeling like a purchase is overkill. I'm sure the DW was "THE BEST" for you. To me, at $2K+, it would have to polish my silverware and put the dishes away in the kitchen to be worth it. 'Coz otherwise, I gotta say, I prefer the uniform, displayless face of my flat panel DW, water parameters entering my house doesn't really change and my machine functions very well with the water feed I do have, and I've not had a problem with cleaning or drying. The bottom spray arm is plastic, True. And that is bothersome because ??? and the various plastic components inside the machine had such rough edges that I almost cut myself at the showroom. Wow. You must have skin like a dream. I just went over my DW interior looking for someway to be injured and couldn't find one. There is nylon covering metal on the racks. The arm is plastic but where you could have poked your fingers to find rough edges, I can't imagine. The soap dispenser, the wheels and the supports for the flip-down rows are plastic but I can't find any place to cut yourself on. Forget the DW, I just want to know what moisturizer you use. Anyhow, you clearly know more about dishwashers than I do if you can be impressed or unimpressed by the interior by virtue of a static scan. The primary parameters that I go by are dynamic and operational - quietude, cleaning capability, drying capability and longevity. The one question I can't answer just now is the last one. I'm not in the business of peddling any appliance brand so I couldn't care less if the OP buys a Bosch or buys any other brand. I have a Miele VC and Miele w/d so I know Miele makes good products. I'm sure others do a good job too. I'm just citing my favorable experience with my particular 500-series Bosch dishwasher for the poster - I don't know and don't think i would have liked the Bosch 300 series (rack configurations and quietness govern this) and I don't know that I would have cared for some of the gimmicry of the 800 series....See MoreQuestions RE: Miele, Bosch & KA dishwashers
Comments (25)Diamante Plus installed yesterday and I must say I am impressed, at least initially. Dishes were spotless with all default settings. A couple of questions at this time. With the hidden controls, do you actually have to power off the dishwasher, or will it turn off after a certain period of time? The installer suggested we try it without adding an water softener salt initally. Our water hardness is 10pbm, so not all that bad, but enough to not make our glasses perfect. Also, the installer did not install the heatshield. My husband told him that eventually we will be replacing our cabinetry & formica countertops but I am wondering if that was a mistake given we don't quite know when we will be doing the renovation. We know if do want to do one in the future though. I was so impressed with how quiet it is. It trumps the builder grade GE that we just got rid of by a mile!...See MoreDishwashers..Bosch vs. Miele vs. Asko
Comments (42)Drying issues with Euro DW: All three do not dry plastics nearly as well as American DWs. It does not matter how much drying agent you put in the DWs. If you think about it, the water that collects in the divets of dishes actually pools there and has no chance of draining out. For that you need a well designed rack so that it is tilted as much as possible to help drain the water. This is where well designed racks make a huge difference with drying issue! In this, Bosch is the worst. In my household, Bosch also fits the least amount of our dishes. The glad plastic el-cheapo containers have a large divet where it collects water when you turn it upside down. I have used all three Euro DWs. For me, Miele is the hands down best, then my old Asko, then Bosch for rack design. Ineteresting enough, Miele has not changed their rack layout in many years. Whereas, Bosch and Asko tend to change them every few years. To me, the newer middle cutlery tray Asko looks rather odd and looks as if you can't really fit large dishes in there. I have NOT used it, however. My old Asko actually had a heating element at the bottom and it dried plastics fine with the element BUT I had to make sure plastic was NOT at the bottom rack. We decided not to use the heating element to dry, which was an option on the Asko. So when you compare the drying of all three without using the heating element on the Asko, they are all about the same, IMHO... I am not sure if the newer Askos have heating elements at the bottom like my old one did. Any how, if you want all your plastics to dry in the DW, I would skip the Euro ones. On the other hand, your plastics will last much longer in the Euro DWs. When I left the Asko heating element on, I often found that a plastic had fallen down and melted... This was one of the reasons I decided not to use the heating element....See MoreRelated Professionals
