18 inch Dishwasher - Miele vs. Bosch
Comments (14)Happy to chime in on 18 inchers, in general. I have the inexpensive GE model, and I use it FAR more than the 24". With two or fewer people in a household, it is hard to fill up the big one in a week--and who wants dirty dishes hanging around that long? I agree with the post about the racks--A lot more mugs and glasses go in that unit than place settings. The GE is the only appliance, with the exception of a cheap Hotpoint in my utility room as back-up for parties, that hasn't had a service call, by the way. My U-line undercounter fridges, the Monogram bar refrigerator, my Whirlpool washer all required service in the first year. The GE 18" is a little noisy, but it isn't a problem for me. Cheap and useful. (By the way, I had the front panel removed, brought it to an autobody shop to have it painted to match my other appliances.)...See MoreTop of the Line Bosch Dishwasher SHX68E15UC worth buying?
Comments (23)ma_bookreader, I feel similarly to you. We've had our Bosch Integra (next-to-top of line) for 1 1/2 years now, and it's never performed as well as we'd wish -- just doesn't get the dishes terribly clean despite the long normal cycle runtime. We generally wind up re-washing at least one item. We've been through every variation of loading dishes, detergent/rinse, food on/food off, with no luck. (And I spend long amounts of time in Germany and am very familiar with Euro appliances.) Now the electronics panel is malfunctioning (you have to turn it completely off and on again to be able to switch cycle buttons) and we are doubly annoyed. The thing is very silent, though, I'll give it that. I wanted to love it, I really did. I think Bosch manufacturing must be very inconsistent. It would be instructive some time to collect data on when the lemon models were manufactured/purchased, in order to try to assess what's going on. I too am sad when others rave about theirs while I just wish I had my cheap old Maytag back. :-/...See MoreBosch (10 year old) 44db Dishwasher vs Miele 40db - Worth it?
Comments (9)On the G6745, half of the cutlery tray(your choice) can slide aside to allow tall items to poke up through where the cutlery tray was for cleaning. Miele was the company who came up with the ideaof this area for cleaning cutlery. We brought our dishes; 3 of each plates; 2 of each sized bowls, coffee mugs and different sized glasses, and placed them in the 40 series Asko, the Benchmark bosch, and the G6745/Dimension. We are presently awaiting the G6745, expecting next week. Our Optima died, and we're replacing it with another Miele; if the water inlet line was the still the same as our Optima, it would have made our picking a dishwasher more difficult....See More2019 dishwashers - Bosch vs Miele vs ?
Comments (14)Thanks all for sharing your thoughts. While my builder probably would have liked us to go with one brand across the board in the kitchen for his Parade home, I just couldn’t do it. While I like the mix of features vs price on KitchenAid refrigerator and ranges, the KA dishwasher just seemed to have too many disadvantages for my liking. With spacing tines closer together, you can just fit more dishes in the Miele or Bosch if you have thin plates like Corelle. So after spending 45 minutes poking around on the Bosch and Miele, I went with the most basic Miele again, a 4228 in SS. I hope to get the same performance as our last Miele, which was nothing short of exceptional. By the way, the Miele gas range is quite impressive, but I get the whole kitchen of appliances for that same $5k. Just too much for a sub 350k house. Cheers!...See Moreweissman
