1912 - Cool night time air is dusty-Let's clean it to cool house
Comments (4)I have HEPA air filters in multiple rooms of my house but it is still very dusty. I thought it was because the windows were open earlier in the year, because this is a dusty environment (Sierra Nevada mountains) but the windows have been closed for a month. There isn't forced air here, so it isn't the ducts. I vacuumed an entire bag's worth of dirt out of the carpets the first two months I lived here with a brand new Miele vacuum. I fixed the dryer vent which leaked. The dust still appears overnight! Help! I like the idea of a filter before the box fan although I am going to have to come up with something more attractive than duct tape to make that work in my bedroom!...See Moreneed help warming up cool color bedroom
Comments (41)Thank you all so much for your ideas which I plan to use. I actually had taken my winter decorations off my mantle before the picture was taken which did help the monotones of the mantle and clock. For some reason my husband is partial to the clock but I do hope to replace it. I think something unframed may be a good option.I also plan to put a picture between the two windows as soon as I find something I like. Will post some pics of my mantle to get some feedback.. Kismet08-As soon as I take a few pics of the bathroom, I will post them on the decorating site. Thank you for the compliment....See MoreContemplating separate bedrooms-need suggestions
Comments (36)We sleep separately and very soundly, and I would never go back to sharing a room. Like others in this discussion, my husband and I have very different sleep schedules. I cannot get to sleep unless it is perfectly quiet. He falls asleep easily but noises-like kids and spouses living life after the sun goes down-wake him up very easily. I like to read for a couple of hours in bed to put myself to sleep, he wants lights out at 9 pm. He likes the room warm, I like it cool. And so on. In our house, I've got the master bedroom and he sleeps in our florida room, on a daybed. I do agree that if someone is going to be sleeping in it regularly, get a daybed or even a real bed. I wouldn't want to make my partner sleep on the couch, no matter how comfortable it is. For us it's been a blessing. My husband can go to bed early and he is in the back of the house where he doesn't get disturbed by people watching tv, wandering in and out of their rooms, taking showers etc. I can read myself to sleep without bothering anyone. Both of us sleep so much better. For a long time it embarrassed me that we didn't like sleeping together, but my systems analyst spouse has always insisted that if most people (especially long marrieds) were honest they would admit having your own bedroom is great! Comments (5)I have untinted SW paint in my basement from the last 40% off sale because I hadn't chosen colors yet but I'm willing to consider having it tinted to a competitor's color(s). How I want the rooms to feel is a hard question. I guess I'm too analytical. Comfortable and livable -- somewhere between jarring/pay-attention-to-me and boring/bland? Guest room is rarely used, just the occasional overnight by a traveling family member. It might get more use in a few years if my kids bring friends home from college but I doubt they'll care as long as you feed them. :) Tibbrix, I'll definitely check out the other blues you suggested. I'm glad you responded because I remembered seeing that you weren't entirely happy with SW Languid Blue. Will take some photos after I get things better organized....See Morebiondanonima (Zone 7a Hudson Valley)
