Coffee table or substitute for tight space
Comments (3)I've seen some nice leather ottomans that are about 15-18" square, with lids that open up so you can actually use them for storage. Gosh, put casters on one or two ottomans and you'd have a great place for photobooks, magazines, or an occasional drinking glass. I think they also come in more of a rectangular size too. The leather upholstery would at least be soft if someone bumped into it and the casters would make it easy to move out of the way....See MoreScrew+Washer in tight space, tool?
Comments (6)There was a similar silver colored tool packed with my vanity light fixtures and it is for tightening/ loosening a plastic ring that holds the glass shade in place. It is another place were you can't get your fingers in so you need the tool if you need to remove the shade for any reason. If your fixture has glass shades look inside for a ring holding the shade....See MoreFirst posting - question about a door in a tight space
Comments (3)There are several alternatives available. Bi-fold, which would narrow the opening. Cafe style hinged either single or double acting. Tambour, similar to those found in appliance garages and storage units, which can be motor controled. Of course there is hinged at the top or bottom, that can be a little cumbersome for small individuals and narrow hallways...See MoreTight tight space and a lot of dirty clothes dilemma
Comments (15)Chris, portable dishwashers do not sit on the counter. They can be as big as regular dishwashers, though usually they are smaller. You keep it somewhere in your kitchen or perhaps adjacent laundry room and when you're ready to do dishes you roll it over to the kitchen sink and hook up the hose to the faucet. Look online on the Sears appliances site; they have several models. You're thinking of countertop dishwashers, which I think Sears might carry too. They aren't too "portable" because they're heavy. My family's first dishwasher, when I was 11 or 12, was a portable. agmss15, if I were you, I'd go with the new Amana. I had a portable for two years when I lived in Mexico and I hated it. For one thing, when the machine is in use, you obviously cannot use your kitchen sink/faucet for anything else. Second, since the dirty water then goes down your kitchen sink drain, if your drain gets at all clogged, the dirty water backs up and you have a mess. If it all goes fine, you are still left with a dirty sink full of residue that you have to clean. Third, a couple of times the drain hose somehow got out of the sink and water went everywhere! You cannot leave your house when you're washing because if something goes wrong, you could come home to a flood and a lot of damage. I'd go with the mini Amana because a) while it's a new model, it's still a washing machine and Amana has been making them for decades. b) Amana is a well known and trusted brand with good customer service. c) who knows what you're getting with second hand? Yeah, you'll have to wait a couple of months, but in my opinion it will be worth the wait, because you'll save yourself tons of hassle over dealing with a used portable. I'd check online with the big box stores to see if you can get a better price over the local appliance store. Just my two cents'. :-)...See MoreUser
