Thoughts on landscape design on both sides of a window?

Hey all,

Got some wonderful ideas here on shade plants to put
in my rock border, thank you all so much! This brought me to another
question and I thought it would be best to just start another thread.

I
am wondering how to approach landscaping on either side of a window. I
got some good priced ivory halo dogwood I would like to plant - looks
great against my siding. And it looks like it'll do full shade, if not,
I'll move on to plan B. How should I plant these - one on each side of
the window? I have a corner over on the left side with a bit more room.

Other than that, is it best to kind of "repeat"
patterns as much as possible or will I have some flexibility there as
long as the dogwoods are kind of the main focal point? Thinking of maybe
a small yew on one side, hydrangea in the left corner, etc. But I
basically have zero design sense and I want it to look good.

Also-
how many shrubs or flowers would you suggest on each side along with
the dogwood? Again, I'm not sure exactly how to approach this.

Thank you all so very much!
