Comments (12)njmomma:I have a Canon EF Lens EF70-300 F4-5.6 IS USM lens on the Canon Rebel. Easier for me to use this lens when photographing the blooms since I don't have to get too close to the blooms, ie step in the bed to get a good closeup shot. It is set on auto focus and all I need to do is adjust the distance, ie 70 through 300, for closeups. Heavier camera now with this lens on. I love our Canon Rebel. The simpler to do pics the better for me. ;-). I also use a Canon SD800 Powershot IS. Small, easy to handle but I think the zoom is nothing special and I prefer the bigger lens on the Canon Rebel. Comments (15)Thank you all for the compliments! Ann, The parentage on Dad's daylily is AWAKENING X SPACECOAST SEEDLING. It is only three years old, but is a stunner at 36" with 6" blooms. Growgirl and Karen, You are probably right about BLUEBERRY SUNDAE, but then it changes to a NOID as that is what I purchased it as. It was one of my earlier DL purchases and I made the mistake of ordering a couple from the Spring Hill catalogue (this was before there were so many wonderful options on line!). It took five years for it to even bloom for me, so when it finally did, I had forgotten what it was supposed to look like :). Rita, I was surprised when you had mentioned Lee Pickles being on your shovel prune list because I love the color of mine. You had compared it to Wisest of Wizards in one post, and in my garden the two are nothing alike...LP is full of color, while WOW is more pastel (I also remember that your WOW had way more color than mine does). I will agree that it is not an agressive grower however, so if your space is limited like yours is, I can still see it heading out the door, even with the beautiful blooms it has given me. Judy, I got Gift From Heaven at Maryott's several years ago. I looked last year when people admired my posts, and they no longer had it listed. Chris, Burgandy Sister is not listed in the AHS database, but that is what it was sold to my Mom as 15 years ago, so Burgandy Sister is what it is in my garden. It is a division of hers that is new in my garden this year, but it is just a stunning daylily...I would say 6"...and it is a bloom machine. The clump of it is eyepopping! Comments (20)Schoolhouse- I'm so glad you're here! Beautiful strainer...tea is such a fun way to enjoy something to drink...and have beautiful dishes and accessories, too. Very pretty honey container. It reminds me of Laura Calder's kitchen in French Food at Home. I watch her show on the cooking channel and she has wonderful containers for her honey, oils, wine (decanters)...and a milk bottle full of cream or 'creme fraiche'. I bet she has wonderful tea, at her house! Katrina ellen- Oh, I hope you get a cat. Dogs are fun, but kitties love to cuddle. At least mine do (LOL) especially as the weather gets cooler. ML- I'm glad the parrots had a good time. I bet they love being out of their cages. I hope you get your daylilies and have a safe trip home. It will be fun to see all of your plants...and we have to have tea in your new Teahouse...at least online :) Marti- I think it will get busier on the forum. As the days get shorter, I think more people will be on the computer and thinking about inside projects, again....See MoreTuesday and Wednesday blooms
Comments (9)That chipmunk is my cats nemesis. Most of the beds that I'm eliminating are ones that have only a couple of plants in them since I moved several of them 2 years ago to other spots. I believe the short scapes is due to lack of rain as well as the bud drops. We did have a late spring with snow squalls into late April. If I had the option to do watering I'm sure things might have been better but it is not an option here. Brad: So sorry to hear Berma has not done well for you. This year mine is barely above foliage. Not typical for here. I don't recommend Inca Puzzle for your area. I think mantis had complained about it being too short and not enough blooms. I think his weather is more typical to yours.
