need ideas for super-cheap kitchen update
Comments (37)I am in awe of the progress and the difference, kdw72697 !!! And your Little Helpers are just toooo precious! Let us know as soon as you decide what you are going to do with the track lighting, and any other changes, of course! :) THIS is my kind of Topic....anything to do with the words "Super-Cheap", and I'm there. Fantastic Suggestions throughout this topic and I'm so grateful you all posted them! Everyone who posted pics....THANK YOU! I am always on the look-out for new ideas, inspiration, anything "budget-minded" to freshen up my own home. The colors you've used, the kitchen set-up...all ideas that motivate and inspire me! Igloochic, Your home....always an inspiration at every turn...especially since I use paint and paint techniques to create something a little nicer than the norm (the 'norm' that I can't even afford!) ....I've used your home pics more than once to get me motivated. Here's my latest budget project...maybe someone else can benefit from it in their own budget-minded kitchen. Real Travertine Tile Trim was NOT in the budget but the discounted/discontinued tiles we purchased looked so nekkid without something on top (the discontinued tiles didn't have bull-nose or anything close to matching). A length of cheapy wood chair rail molding, some left-over stucco in the bag from an earlier window re-do and my paints and some good sealer..... (I DID resize these pics to make them smaller...I hope it worked!)...See Morehelp updating this brick & windows (cheap)
Comments (1)A demo hammer and a GC would do the trick. That is a brick veneer and is easily removed as are the window shapes changed. What it would cost depends on your market....See MoreHelp! I need ideas on how to update the sanctuary of this church.
Comments (2)Replace the pews with comfortable chairs - chairs that could be rearranged and hopefully stacked to make that sanctuary more versatile. The brass fixture - not sure what it is, but paint it with a non glare paint. I wonder about hanging accoustical panels from the ceiling? Might contribute to a more informal feeling? Could probably lower the cross...could the chairs be removed from the platform after the choir uses them during the traditional service? I am guessing that there is some type of worship team during the contemporary service and the chairs get in their way. Replace that podium with a music stand for the contemporary service (at least it isn't a huge pulpit!)...many churches move the contemporary service to a fellowship hall instead of trying to have the traditional and contemporary coexist in one place - could they do that instead?...See MoreHelp!!! Update kitchen on a budget? Any ideas? need a pantry
Comments (7)This is far from a classic mcm home! the light is the only thing that looks like it's from the 50's-60's. Those cabs are builder grade oak from the 80's check ikea. you could prob do some lowers. as for the other part, save up so you can do a new countertop w/an overhang for that peninsula. also, trim out the front of the peninsula w/some panel trim work, and paint. the front of this looks like plywood! try something like this, and do the side as well, and paint and paint the cabs while youre at it. get yourself some inexpensive hardware for the cabinets. don't know what you can spare for a budget, but if you paint them yourself, can do some basic carpentry and look into a pre-fab countertop, you wouldn't need more than 2-3K. Ikea is another option if you just want to remove everything and start over. RTA cabinets are another option. for about 3K, and some install work, you could have all new cabs. countertops, another 2K. and if you want a tall pantry, remove that window and install one next to the fridge....See MoreWalnutCreek Zone 7b/8a
