what do purple leaves mean on phal?
Comments (3)But be careful. You want to compare leaves to other leaves on the same plant. A purple tinge on the surface of a single leaf could actually be a sunburn, probably caused by spraying some insecticides like Neem or another oily product. This is why insecticide makers generally advise to spray on cloudy days. Or if you grow inside, maybe leave plants in lower light for a day if you can. Comments (18)Hi dana gardener - I am wondering, what do you want to do? Do you really want to go or do you feel that it is an obligation? Even if it is an obligation it doesn't matter as long as you strongly desire to be there for someone you Love and want to support and share in the person's special day. This is what counts. However, if you cannot afford this trip with all the expenses involved, even if you want to be there, then I would express that in a note to the Bride with a gift that you can afford. No one should feel "forced" to attend when it will be so costly to do so. You may feel bad for not going if you truly desire to share in this Blessed event but you should also feel free and not guilty if you decide not to go because of the financial, emotional, etc. stress that it will cause you. No matter what decision you make it is your right to do so whether you go or not....See MoreWhat does "as soon as soil can be worked" really mean?
Comments (8)Glad other folks don't go strictly by the "soil worked" statement. zeedman, I'm actually over 100 miles south of you. I'm pretty close to the bottom of Lake Michigan- I probably should have said so in my first post. So I'm not sure if that will make a difference or not with timing. And not anything to do with the conversation at hand, but I miss camping at High Cliff. forgotten- I didn't realize I could sprout my peas. I figured since they aren't supposed to like transplanting, that meant I couldn't sprout them either. I am so going to do this with some of my peas this year. How long do they take to sprout? I would be doing them in my 65 degreeish dining room where I have south facing windows for a little extra warm if the sun ever comes out again, lol. farmerdill- I didn't realize there were smooth and wrinkley peas. All of mine look kind of smooth like the Alaskas, so I think maybe I'm good with adverse conditions peas. My beds are pretty good draining- a mix of horse compost, leaves and grass clippings, and sandy loam that gets stirred up every spring, and put to bed with another layer of leaves in the fall. Some are raised beds, and others are lasagne beds, kind of like raised beds without the outside box because I heap them in deep....See MoreWhat do these large spots on Phal leaves mean? (pics in comment)
Comments (4)Thank you both for the comments. :) sunburn actually makes sense because I actually moved them all to a new spot maybe three weeks ago that is less shady. It's still shady, but I guess less shady compared to the old spot (they were 100% indirect light before). I moved them all to a new spot in between the old and new to fix the problem hopefully I don't see any spider mites, but I'll keep on the lookout. I spray them with Bayer Natria insect, mite and disease formula (I think it is called that) every so often because last spring one of my phals got mealy bug infested and kept dropping its blooms as soon as they opened....See More- 7 years agoCarol love_the_yard (Zone 9A Jacksonville, FL) thanked Peter Newcastle Aust spider mite breeder
