They weigh about 12-15 times what you lil dog weighs, right? :-)

I am a 62yr old who has been hunting with dogs all my life. We are trying to prevent heartworms here...correct...??? For the past 37yrs I have been using a bottle of heart worm prevention I get for $25.00 but I usually buy 5 bottles for $100.00. I get it from this place JR Enterprises at www.heartwormprevention.com The company is in Louisiana where there is no shortage of mosquitos. One of my male dogs who did not have heartworms brought a female hound home. I was unable to find the owner so I kept her. This female was infested with heartworms. She had a dry and ugly coat. I administered the heartworm preventative at 1/4cc per 20lb of body weight. The female weighed 80lbs so I gave her 1cc the 1st of every month. Within 3 months her coat began to shine and look good. After 6 months I had her tested for heartworms at the vet and I was astonished after finding out...NO TRACE OF HEARTWORMS WHATSOEVER. ..They were completely eradicated. This was 14yrs ago. I still have this hound today and she is going strong. I can vouch for this heartworm preventative. I use it on all my dogs and they are heartworm free.

Usually the all are a teaspoon per gallon. I use a ppm meter ti nitrate my poisonous brew. Since I water almost daily when it's warm, I want no more than an 150ppm change. Since I use a Siphonex which is supposed to dilute the mix 16 to 1 but in reality does other depending on water pressure, size of hose etc I measur the tap ppm, then the ppm of what comes out of the hose. I add enough of whatever to give a 150 ppm rise. In reality, I only do this now and then as a check since once it's dialed in, it never changes. I don't know what the change should be if you water once a week, I suspect around 300 to 400. Measure the ppm of the water source, add 1 tspn per gallon and measure again. adjust to get the desired range. If you don't have a ppm device go to a place that sells water and act interested in their product, they'll test for you. Nick

There is still no evidence that MSM does anything to help with arthritis. It is supposed to have an anti-inflammatory effect, but this has never been documented. It doesn't appear to cause any harm, but it also doesn't appear to do any good. Glucosamine and chondriotin are both substances that are required for healthy cartilage. The most effective forms are glucosamine HCL and chondroitin sulfate; they are most readily absorbed and used by the body. The most effective ratio is glucosamine HCL 500mg/chondroitin sulfate 400mg. The most common dose is 3-6 times that ratio in humans, starting with a higher dose during a 6-8 week loading period then decreasing to the lowest effective dose. If there is no improvement after 6-8 weeks, there is no use continuing to supplement. I use it and it helps with my knees, which I injured many years ago. I recommended it to my FIL and it didn't help him at all. It helped my husband, and I also give it to all of my dogs to prevent cartilage break-down (they are large breed dogs). In humans and animals, it seems to help about 50% of the time. I think it depends on how much cartilage-producing cells are still in the affected joints. Glucosamine and chondroitin appear to have a better effect when the cartilage damage isn't severe. Glucosamine and chondroitin are not pain releivers, but work by building up the cartilage in the joints. This helps protect the bones in the joints from rubbing against each other, which is the source of joint pain. One major problem with supplements in general is that there is no government regulation on them. Many brands have been tested and some have almost no glucosamine or chondroitin in them! Look for a symbol on the packaging that says USP, indicating the manufacturer follows guidelines from US Pharmocopeia, which is an industry self-regulatory board.
