Pressure drops in one zone but never recovers
Comments (2)I managed to get the zone back to a working state again: 1. When I took apart the valve assembly box, I noticed the small circular nipple part of the rubber valve was not properly flush in its spot. 2. I thoroughly cleaned all parts in a sink and put the valve box back together (taking care to ensure the nipple and internal rubber valve were properly seated). 3. The pressure problem did still exist, although not as low. I turned down the radius on 2 of the 3 heads back to 180 (leaving one set to 360). This solved it. They all popped up and worked again. My guess is the 9 heads were a little too much for the line to handle. I can open up one head to cover a 360 degree radius, but that is all I can do for that zone. Is it possible to boost the pressure to support all 9 heads on the same zone set to cover a 360 degree radius? If so, can anyone suggest a solution?...See MoreHow does one recover this type of chair?
Comments (18)Hey I owned those same chairs. Bought them in 1981 I think. Super comfortable. Same fabric and everything. I did recover the seats and backs. As I recall, I used a single piece of fabric for the back and made it mold to the curve by pulling it on the understide and also along the side edges. Be sure to cut the fabric with extra on it so you have enough to hold on to when you are stretching and smoothing. Then staple and cut away excess. I got extra teak screw cover buttons from the Scandanavian furniture store. They just popped in. I probably can find some extras around here if you can't find them. I've seen them somewhere around the house. Or you can get them at Home Depot, but they won't be teak. I also picked up a "tack lifter" at the upholstery shop and it makes getting those staples out a lot easier. Looks like a screwdriver, but the tip is bent at a 90 degree angle and it has a "v" notch cut in it. When you use it, the handle is straight up so it's easy to control. I stabbed myself a million times with a regular screwdriver before I bought one....See MoreHello from recovering Hen and Chicks and Help with white mildew please
Comments (11)Lol right Rina! I love the top dressing and I believe I read somewhere about it causing water retention too but still decided to go with it because it makes it so much easier to get the plants how you want them. There was a lot of good advice given on my first post which I followed except for the potting mix which I know is one of the most important things but I did make very sure they drained well before planting them I would like to clarify I got all but the first pictured of these plants the day before posting these and repotted from their damp 100% soil, after letting all but the jades roots dry out because I just cleaned their roots off today ( and learned I actually have 3 jade plants YAY ) Rina - Sounds like I'm going to be re-potting again, The layer of rocks is just to keep the soil and smaller rock layer from slipping out of the fairly large holes I drilled in myself and making messes, but like I said It almost drains too well for my liking I dumped 2 cups of water in the layered pot I put mama in to test it out and it was like I just dumped the cup out without anything to catch it.. I'll have to get a video next week if this humidity ever goes away. But I put <2 handfuls of soil in the entire mix for mama which really wasn't much I am most confident in her pot I may have to find and put a healthy semp in with her just to see. Most of the rocks are about half the size of a Canadian dime. They we're in full sun where I bought the new ones this time, but I do have them on the far side of my patio set which doesn't get dappled sun but is half shaded and I slowly moved the mama there and the baby hasn't quite made it outside yet. Thank you for the advice about the jade, I just took it out of the soil which was dry but I'd rather be able to see how its coming along anyway. Chef - Glad to hear your plants are on their way to being happy and healthy :) I'm still pretty new to Germany and I'm not sure what turface might be called here I'll have to see if the PXtra sells it but I've been using "granulat" which translates to granules, they're about the size of Himalayan salt, Lava rocks which will fit into a bottle cap and small rocks like I said earlier are pretty small. The thought of not having soil just blows my mind lol, I understand very little mixed well into something but none at all... but you are the experts and it's been really wet the last few days which is fairly common here unfortunately, so as soon as I can I will be uprooting them again to sift though the soil and looking for some turface or another equivalent....See MoreAdvice on: seedlings just can't get started
Comments (6)look fine to me ... all things considered .... in my z5 MI ... nights are still rather cool .. which means that though the heat of day warms the soil .. it is still being lost at night ... and i really dont think of balsa as being a cold season plant ... the low yellow leaves are transplant shock ... and though we would like to see them rocket up .. i would suggest that you just give them time ... just try not to love them to death.. and be patient ... i would not fert a plant this early ... just becasue spring came on early ... dont worry about plants that are more on the regular schedule .. BTW ... i wish my seedlings looked that good.. back in the day .. im rather not much impressed by your complaints about them ... lol ... good job .. even if not up to your prior standards .. ken...See More- 9 years ago
