Last weekend the handle seized as it was pulled upward to lock the active door. After first removing, oiling and replacing the inside door handle, I repeated the process on the outside door handle with no luck. Today, I tried Kashmi's July 6, 2011 post regarding pushing out on the door while pushing down on the handle. This senior citizen had to alternate the pushing of door and handle, but with gradual movement of both. Finally gave it all I had left and the door opened! I've oiled the parts not accessible when the doors are closed and they operate better than when new. Thank you for the knowledge that it was not just this door lock that had jammed and the help to resolve the problem.

That's a pricey door and a bit of extra work. Doesn't sound crazy... That said, best thing that you can do is get another quote or two for comparison purposes. That will eliminate any variance due to regional location and also installation specifics. IE: this could be a door installed in a 4th floor condo that requires rental of a 100' lift. I doubt that is the case, but you get the idea.

I would call in another Marvin Dealer as if you were starting from scratch. Have them come in for a consult and a second estimate. Ask the question and see what he/she says. Even if you’re happy with the first dealer, dealers can charge differently so at least you’ll have something to compare apples to apples with. I actually have two appointments scheduled for Sunrise windows next week, but I’m not actually sure which dealer I’ll end up with. I have to say though both my mother and my sister had the french doors installed. They weren’t Marvins but they were extremely happy with that style.

I don't know of any that are designed to work with a multipoint application. You might be better suited to look at a magnetic lock that can be added to the door and frame at the top.
