What a wonderful gift! We will be staying there for the last night of a 10 day tour in August, I am so excited to visit this beautiful part of the country!

Make sure you go inside the hotel. Anyone can go in. There are little shops on the main floor. Investigate the hotel. The haunted room is in the 8th floor. ;)

We spent 10 days up there a few years ago. We flew to Calgary and did the circuit through Banff to Jasper on the Icefields Parkway and back. The scenery is dramatic and strikingly beautiful. Lake Louise and a few other lakes we saw (about one a Canadian fellow tourist told me "everyone knows this scene, it's on the backside of our money) are so stunning as to be almost other-worldly, or something that might have been done in a computer-graphics type image or movie scene.

Our trip was in late May and were very shocked that lakes were still frozen or partially frozen over.

I looked it up and it's Moraine Lake, the image of which apparently was on the Canadian $20 bill for awhile. I remember we were there on May 31, because......the Lodge was closed but when I went in, I was told it would be opening the next day "for the vacation season". That was a head-scratcher for me, it seemed pretty late. The lake was mostly frozen and there were patches of snow in the parking lot. The lake is beautiful but my take away was thinking about how long and how cold the winters must be up there.

Several years ago in April, DH was on a business trip to Calgary and since it was our anniversary, I went along and we had dinner at the Chateau Lake Louise. It is a beautiful, elegant hotel. For this Prairie dweller, it was quite a remarkable experience as it got dark to look out the dining room windows and feel the mountains looming so near.

My late inlaws spent their honeymoon there! They were to go to Europe but WWII had broken out and they had to change their plans. Nice to know it's still lovely after all these years.

Finally got around to googling it, too bad it's not Halloween anymore. :)

Banff Springs Hotel the most haunted structure in Alberta, Canada.

The door to our bathroom didn't close properly as the frame had been broken and not fixed right. I always closed the door. I would sit on the bed and look up to see the door open again. I looked at my husband and said, "it's the draft opening that up.... right?" lol The room the ghost is in is completely sealed off. They took the door off and filled the space with drywall and papered over it. You can tell where the room in because there is a light over every door. The light is there. The door is gone.

^^ It's fun to read about but you have better nerves than I. I think I would have fled. :)

As for the sealed room, I don't think I'd even want to be in any of the adjacent rooms, brrr.

Oh my, this is my very favorite place in the continental US!...when you stay there, be sure to get a window table and eat breakfast there...fantastic!

We are from NY but spent our honeymoon in Banff/Lake Louise and surrounding areas, 27 yrs ago. Also stayed at Banff Springs Hotel among other places. It was wonderful. Went back for our 10th anniversary, somewhat duplicating our honeymoon. Would be so nice to go again but I don't think I can handle anymore plane rides!!

lovely pictures! We visited in the summer years ago and had one of the most memorable meals ever--a bowl of soup. We hiked up from Lake Louise on the well-used trail which was longer than we expected. By the time we reached the top boy, were we hungry! There was (is?) a restaurant up there that served pretty much soup and homemade bread that was incredibly delicious, partly because we were so hungry. :) I will never forget that hike and meal. I'm glad you had a nice weekend in such a stunning setting, Debby.
