After 6 years The Pilgrim finally blooms! And a few other pictures

Lisa Adams

I'm not exaggerating one bit. I planted David Austins, 'The Pilgrim' in a bad spot, in late June. It arrived in June, bareroot on clearance from Wayside Gardens while we were all away on a cruise in Alaska. I thought it was dead, but planted it anyway. It only got hot afternoon sun, and the park had a huge eucalyptus tree about 8 feet away, on the other side of the fence. My 50-70 foot long Privet hedge was also nearby. It certainly struggled, but held on, just barely. Two years ago the eucalyptus tree was removed. I recently had the whole hedge dug out. Finally The Pilgrim is starting to grow and even bloom. I even think I like it!

Baronne Prevost is happy to be out of her small pot.

Some Hollyhocks starting to bloom.

A seedling from seed from Roseseek (Kim Rupert). Open, Open,Open!!!! Lisa
