Tide with Oxi Professional!!! Hands down a fantastic whites detergent.

Since its formulated for hotels that wash bedding, towels ect a LOT this detergent is formulated to be less alkaline so as to maintain the integrity of the textiles longer. It also has more Sodium percarbonate than mainstream Tide with Bleach. ..lastly it does have a scent in the box, but does not leave scent on the finished product as guests want a clean fresh scent not perfume. This stuff is super good. Only one tiny problem. .its hard as heck to find LOL

I'm having good luck with powdered Tide w/Bleach. It does a nice job of restoring whites from dingy (takes a few washes to achieve goal), and it keeps whites, white. I use no additives with it-only hot water in the wash and a soak of 30-90 mins in my TL.

Sometimes the scent of Tide w/Bleach is too much for me on a given day, and I'll use another detergent that I can handle the scent of better that day, but I have to add in Biokleen Oxygen Bleach or Borax for a whites load. I use the Biokleen OB if I have a straight all white load. If I have some lights/pastels in my white load I use Borax instead of oxygen bleach. I've been having good luck with this "plus an additive" formula with All powder detergent, Mexican Ariel powder and Cheer powder. So much so, hubby asked if I bought him new undershirts. lol His undershirts are many years old, so I guess the formulas are working!

I've not used Persil Pearls before, so I won't know what I'm missing with it being taken off the market. I feel for you Cedric. You and others here seem to have really like the Pearls. Maybe ignorance is bliss in this case...

I've had very good luck with the Grab Green pods. They whiten and remove stains. Larsi also likes them for the same reasons. They smell great, too.

Perls are my go-to detergent. I have the Euro version. Grab Green is the runner up for me. And no measuring.

I am another one who is using Persil Power Pearls, at least until I run out. Can't find any where I live so I must find a replacement.

I just ordered two boxes of Persil Powert Pearls from Target via the web site. Delivery to the store is scheduled for 5/20. I'm interested in other suggestions and appreciate this discussion.

Any other recommendations besides Tide? Everytime I try it I break out with a rash. This has happened at least three times... Everytime I try it so I don't want to take another chance with it.

I am probably good with the Perls for another 2+ years because I just started a new bottle last month, bought two more yesterday. It takes me a year to use a 50 load bottle since I don't have that many white or light clothes.

I'm not convinced that Persil is eliminating their pearls, as they had come out with a "Fresh" sort of scent, and both are still on their website. But I guess they could be advertising them until they run out, not wanting to lower sales and end up with old stock.

Cedric, I know your wife would love Vetivar Grab Green pods...well I am making an assumption. I gave a pack away to a guy at work for his birthday, and he loves it. I really like the smell. Its unusual and a little complicated. And as @rococogurl says, it works. I have used the Grab Green loose powder on a few things. It smells somewhat like baby detergent from the old days, to me. It got my towels white. But I'm not totally sold on the Water Lilly sent, when I wear the clothing. Memories of wafting wet diapers, mingled with fragrance, come to mind. I used cotton diapers on my oldest, as disposables weren't commonly used in the early 70's.

100% agree with Rococogurl. Grab Green powder pods, IMHO, clean and whiten better than Persil Pearls or Euro Perls.

The GG powder pods are very low sudsing and clear rinsing (both USA and German Persil Pearls were horribly sudsing and near impossible to rinse, although they both clean well).

No measuring with the GG pods, they have a bleach activator like Pearls and Tide with Bleach powder, the scent is natural (or more natural) and they remove any stain I throw at it, and really whiten!!!

mama - I can't find anything Tide that comes up "professional". Even looked on Tide's website. Can you tell me where to look for this or post a picture of what it looks like? Thank you.

The Persil Pearls Intense Fresh isn't new around here it came out same time as original scent in my neck of the woods...March 2015.

The pearls are not on the Canadian site anymore. I've tried a few places and none. Going to try another location today might have some left. Walmart Canada says no longer available as well.

I have to clarify my comment above, regarding Water Lilly scent and diapers. I don't smell like a wet diaper when I wear the clothes, honest, lol. Its just that if reminds me of Deft powder, and I don't care for that scent on clothing, because of my association with wet diapers and the scent. Water Lilly nor Deft smell like wet diapers.

Mamap, I didn't know that the intense fresh was older, I just assumed it came out a year or so after the initial release.

I went ahead and ordered two 50 load original scents from Target. If they're available in a month, I may buy 2 more. Supposed shelf life is 2 years, but I can seal them in mason jars if necessary.

As far as I know Tide Pro is formulated for FL washers as that's generally what hotels use. But there have been several here that's used it in a fl I believe there was no issue with suds..

Mama I watched some videos re the tide professional line and they were loading into industrial front loaders. i think I'll try this.

Yes, most hotels and businesses using this have front loaders, BUT.....still does very conservatively. It can be sudsy!!! I would begin with 1-2 TBS. at the most. You can always add more the next load, if you feel it warrants more detergent!

I wonder why they wouldn't make their consumer detergent ph neutral as well? Since we cannot get Tide with bleach powder here at all this is the only option besides Miele for whites. You've all enabled me again LOL.

Easy answer most people don't wash bedding often enough for alkalinity to be a problem, matter of fact most people probably need the higher alkalinity to actually clean the bedding that's been on their beds a long time. Even most here that do wash their sheets weekly which is acceptable won't have a problem with the PH of Tide with Bleach powder like hotels washing them agressively daily.

I was amazed when I read on the decorating forum the people that don't wash their bedding at least weekly. And how many wash them in cold water...bet those beds are not so.....fresh.

Tide Pro seems pretty cool, but those that know, Tide is sworn off in my household. Wife is now in love with Persil and now they've killed my Whites Detergent. :O(

Livebetter..the Tide Pro does have some alkalinity..enough at least. Its closer to neutral but not totally neutral....

Liquid detergents are almost neutral which IMO is why some people have problems removing body odors. Sweat ect takes some alkalinity to remove...workout clothes are an example of what I mean..they do better with a alkaline detergent.

I have used Tide Pro many times in fact it was my go to in my TL'er. Even without a heater my sheets were beautifully clean. Yes I boiled water, but sure couldn't get it as hot as my Duet lol. I would dump Persil Pearls in a heartbeat for Tide Pro if I could that's how good the stuff is. Oh wait Persil dumped me lol

Almost all of my sheets are white vintage percale, 100% cotton, a few vintage muslin, and a few modern day queen sets from Portugal 100% long staple cotton percale. ..I have 5 beds. Amiees gets done daily and she uses the Portugal sheets. The 2 boys each use percales, they are done every 3/4 days. Hubs percales every 3/4 days..and my percales every 2 to 4 days...everyone's pillowcase gets changed daily. I know I'm nuts. I probably easily have enough vintage sheets for 3 changes each, but don't rotate more than 2 sets each since I strip, put on the freshly washed and ironed ones, wash and iron the next set. Lol

I think you should really like your new detergent and I'm looking forward to your review.
