My Tree is sick
Comments (3)Pictures are necessary for any accurate diagnosis. An easy way to post them is to open a free account at Photobucket.com. Upload your pictures there. Click on the HTML line (third line beneath your picture in Photobucket when you hold the cursor over your picture) and it should say "copied", then paste here [this gardenweb forum] in the message area - not in a link [You can paste multiple pictures regardless of size and you won't see the picture, but only computer lingo until you click on "Preview Message" below]. You will be able to post pictures on any other forum, too. After pasting your photos here [this gardenweb forum], you should see them when you hit "Preview Message" before you actually post the message. hortster...See MoreDead/Sick Corkscrew Willow
Comments (1)Just to add, it was girdled by some landscaping fabric from whoever planted it. The fabric had cut in at least an inch deep all the way around the tree. I guess they weren't planning on it getting this large and didn't cut the fabric to allow for expansion. I wouldn't think that this would kill a tree like this, as it seems to conform to whatever it grows around, like the fence. I would estimate the age of the tree to be around 15 or 20 years....See MoreHELP!!! My Grapefruit Tree is very sick.
Comments (14)What may have happened is the tree may have gone unwatered for a long period of time, maybe neglect for 2 or 3 years. That can kill back parts of the tree, and it may never be able to fully recover again. If that is the case, the best thing you can do is try to give it proper care now. Make sure you keep it watered during the summer. Can you tell us where this tree is?...See MorePlease help me with my sick peach tree!
Comments (5)From what I can tell, the type of tree seems to help more than anything else. Last year I had a Florda Belle that had a similar problem: I tried spraying with a dilute copper solution. It did not help - instead it caused the tree to defoliate completely. After much debating, I decided to replace the tree with a new variety. I went to a local nursery (Plant-o-gram) and talked to the owner about which type of peach he has the least problems with. He recommended a Tropic Sweet. It has been fantastic. I planted it last fall (and dug up the ailing Florda Belle & put it in a pot). Here is the Tropic Sweet around May: It is quite a bit bigger now and still very healthy. By comparison, the Florda Belle put out only 4 leaves this year and I chucked it around May. Sorry that isn't much help to you with your current tree, but thought I'd share my experience. Also, it's probably my thread you were remembering (link below). Good luck! Let us know if you find a solution that helps your tree.
