Hope this is still active. I have my sprinkler system controller in my garage. I have valves for the front yard sprinklers and valves for the back. My controller will still turn on front yard sprinklers, but not the backyard. It usedan to wor fine. The connections seem tight at the controller. Don't see any loose connections by the valves though it is somewhat complex looking at there. The valves will turn on the sprinklers if turned manually. How can I check for loose connections versus wire shortages. Not sure if relevant, but we (gardener) did change front yard sprinkler stations prior to the backyard issue started. But I can't remember if the backyard sprinklers were working after that for a short period of time or not. Thanks for any help.

I don't think you have enough CFM thru your compressor. I put in a sprinkler system in my last house (no time here yet), and put a low pressure drain in each zone at the lowest point. I also put a valve for a compressor, but the drains did the trick and never had to worry about them other than shutting off the water supply and opening the valves so the water could go to the lowest point. I would say to turn off the water and open 1 valve, blast the air and see if any water came out. Close that one and open another, repeat. If your not getting anything and worried, borrow a larger compressor and blast it. If your really worried, pull a valve and see if water runs out (only if they are burried, if above ground disregard). For some reason, a lot of people have the valves really low and water sits there. If that is the case, and you pull a valve all the water will run out of the line. There are many things you can do, just depends on how much time your willing to devote. Ours system has been in for 23 years. It was self installed and was built with a drain plug at the lowest level that could be manually opened to drain the main. The plug was installed with a valve cover over it to get to it easily. We would turn off the valves at the BFP, stuff a towel around it in the box, and drain the system every year in the late 80's and early 90's when we were expecting really cold weather for several days. In the past 6 or so years we haven't done anything to winterize it since the winters haven't brought any sustained cold weather, and we do run it periodically in the winter if we haven't had much precip and a cold snap was coming. I don't think the shrub heads keep water in the pipes - they seem to drain back into the underground pipes, (after 23 years we probably have some tiny leaks) so as long as they are empty, they shouldn't get damage.

I am planning to energize a solenoid valve also from the Jandy RS. IÂm waiting for the necessary cable to do this, but was told that the JVA sockets can be used to energize 24 VAC solenoid valves. If you have any JVA sockets not in use, simply assign that JVA to the auxiliary that you desire and that JVA socket will energize or de-energize when the auxiliary is selected. These JVA sockets output 24 VAC on 2 different legs, one leg normally energized and the other leg normally de-energized. Just be careful to use the right cable with the appropriate connector when connecting to the JVA socketÂ.the socket is small and if any of the pins are shorted, damage may result to the Jandy controller. Jandy sells JVA cables in different lengths and that is what IÂm planning to use for connection between the Jandy RS and the solenoid valve. Hope this helps.
