[Your thread on the 'Roses' forum might be better placed here. The roses you list are antique roses and I think you may get more replies. I hope so. The 'Roses' forum is more appropriate for modern roses I think. It is o.k to put the same thread on both forums. Incidentally, I am not an expert in any way and I am flattered that you think so. I just grow some roses and share with everyone. I think we all do that here. There are expert rosarians on this forum, but I am not one of them, but I do enjoy talking about roses and a great pleasure is seeing them in the gardens of others. Many roses are for warm climates that I cannot grow well here. Where in Spain are you approximately?] aah... Comments (41)nikthegreek, I am sorry. I try to translate what you have written with Google translator but I can not understand the question. Sorry to not speak English. I'm not sure what you're asking. Tell me that even if there have not sprouted roots of the rose variety the bush will grow its base with more shoots? Well, I do not know how to respond to this. My rose bushes quickly emit roots of the rose variety. The stems that come from the soil are not suckers, they do not leave the rootstock. They leave the rosewood variety. My pretension (because I like aesthetically and because neither my climate nor my soil I believe that make necessary to grow roses with rootstocks) is that, the base is wider. I aesthetically like a rose like that. If I had problems with my nematodes in my soil, or my frost was very deep, so as to specify some varieties of rose that grow in rootstocks ... Then I would consider this system. But is not the case. I can not find any reason to grow my roses in rootstocks (I repeat, with my climate and with my soil). On the contrary I am enthusiastic about the rose bushes with many stems from below and on the contrary I find horrible and artificial shrubs that all its structure leaves a single point on the ground. Also, I think they are more unstable when the wind blows. I do not know if I understood your question well. If not, I beg you to formulate it again. I will try to translate with Google ....See MoreFelicia explodes into bloom
Comments (28)I have one of Mike Shoup's books, I'll have to see if I have the one with that picture of Felicia. I think it's the "Empress of the Garden Book". The coffee table book. I'm glad she is growing so well, but I didn't quite expect this kind of habit either. I hope she doesn't out grow her space. This is a very prominent front of the house bed, with lots of well planned annuals and perennials interspersed. I will need to tie her to the trellis a bit and maybe do a bit of careful cutting back of some canes after the flush to keep her in check. We had a good rain yesterday and I'm pleased with how well her blooms held up. Lisa...See MoreEl Jardín de la Alegría en Madrid
