The "B" dress: latest report on wedding dress shopping.
Comments (34)Joining in the praise, and I can truly relate to value of a (good) decision made. I was curious to see the view count but I don't see it now. ( we need to know how many bridesmaids still counting)-- I don't see it though I have looked. I wonder if I need to sign in? lol...See MoreDress shopping hell
Comments (78)Frequently, the things I sell are NWT, but often several years old. Here is an extreme example from several years ago. I purchased an indoor jacket that just didn’t fit quite right. I was going to a meeting in Chicago and needed the weight of the jacket so I kept it. On the way to the airport, we had a car wreck. I never made it to the meeting and never got the jacket altered. After pushing it around in my closet for several years, I sold it. Another example is I bought a cute pair of light blue suede flats. The blue just didn’t go with anything I had. I kept thinking I would get something that would work with them. Never did. Finally sold the shoes. My NWT sales are usually the result of poor judgment on my part coupled with unrealistic optimism that the item will have a metamorphosis and look better in the future. By the time reality sets in, it is too late to return it....See MoreReady to help with more dress shopping?
Comments (69)Daisychain, I am a huge fan of the "good enough" school. I did that with my wedding dress. After returning over seven mail order dresses, I picked two that were "good enough" and never found the perfect one. I still had a good time at my wedding. And I was happy that neither dress was so expensive that I regret looking at it sitting forevermore in my closet . . . At some point we have to just keep going and check an item off the list. Years ago, I worked for a statewide organization housed at a university and staffed with college students as interns. Our boss was a great one for leaving "draft" on major policy papers and having endless meetings about edits. Finally one student said sarcastically of her, "At some point, it's not going to be draft anymore whether we like it or not . . . " In another vein, I counsel students to keep going when they are ready to jettison their entire careers because they got a "B" in a class . . . I tell them "B" stands for "good!!" Sometimes people who consistently do B work do much better than the ones who get all A's and then crash and burn due to not being able to handle the stress and can't deliver ANYTHING . . . the perfect is the enemy of the good....See MoreLast Minute Dress Shopping for Bridal Shower and...
Comments (34)No, she did not have couture, she had more accessible knockoffs. She had one like this that was sleeveless and two that were beaded bodice over wool satin bottoms and a separate top, that I can think of. Luckily she also had a neighbor, (A Japanese woman who also took care of me and taught me how to use chopsticks as a toddler) who could do things like take these apart and bring in sleeves at the shoulder or length at the waist and stuff like that....See Moredaisychain Zn3b
