trash/recycle pull-out bin bags??
Comments (4)I don't have the same bins, but in general I like the bags from Smart & Final (company that sells supplies to small restaurants and caterers). They have really thin, really strong bags that come in a big carton. A year's worth....See MoreDumb question about pull-out trash cans!!
Comments (12)I considered moving the trash to a different cabinet that is smaller, but I really want to keep it near the sink. (although it is currently located under my cooktop and I actually really like it there!) And I can't deduct 3" from that cabinet and add it to another because of where it's located (between supersusan corner cabinet and sink cabinet) The space will be completely divided by a wood partition from top to bottom, front to back, so I hope that garbage doesn't get in there!! However, I really only wanted to keep serving trays in there, which I don't use all that often and would probably rinse off before use anyway. Badgergal, that's exactly what I was thinking!! Was it difficult to get the trash hardware placed on the door exactly where it needed to be so that the door would fit into place correctly? That's my concern...especially since the doors are inset. I'll probably leave this for my contractor but I kind of need a plan in place to know if I should order an unattached door for that cabinet (to attach to garbage) or a regular door that opens to the side....See MoreIkea kitchens with trash pull-outs.... what's your experience?
Comments (10)We used an 18-inch base cabinet with the deep drawer at the bottom and a shallow drawer on top. We attached a regular door front to the deep drawer hardware (can't remember exactly how we did it but it wasn't complicated). I didn't want to use the small IKEA trash bins so I looked all over to find the largest trash can that would fit the space; I can't remember exactly how big the can is (I think it was a Rubbermaid can) but it fits exactly side to side and top to bottom (without the lid) and is the perfect size for the Costco 13-gallon kitchen bags. I thought I would then look for a smaller can to fit behind for recycling but until I could find it we started putting a paper grocery sack behind the main can and it worked so well that I never looked for a smaller can. We reuse the sack until it gets too weak and then throw it into the recyling with whatever is in it. We've been using the trash set up for 2 1/2 years with no problems; the door/drawer seems as sturdy and stable as it did when we started using it. And that's with two teenagers who certainly aren't concerned about overstuffing the trash can....See MoreSearching for trash cans to fit pull out
Comments (9)I just checked the outside top measurement of my Rev-a-shelf pull-out can. It's 14 x 10.25 x 18" tall. I built a shelf above it for a pull-out wire basket, which holds boxes of foil and plastic wrap. I don't empty it often, but the rule is that we don't put anything really wet, smelly, or nasty in that can (no lid). The nasty stuff goes directly into a covered metal can just outside the kitchen door, in the mudroom. Here's one that might work. (Geez, Amazon needs to hire a proof reader!!) Edited to add: 35 quart replacement bin 14 3/8 x 10 1/4 x 17 7/8" Here is a link that might be useful: 30 quart bin This post was edited by mama_goose on Wed, Feb 4, 15 at 14:34...See Moreoldbat2be
