You're just a bit shy on depth for the Rev-a-Shelf 35qt containers that I use. They are 14-3/8" W x 10-1/2" D x 17-7/8" H.

I see a rubbermaid on amazon under "Rubbermaid Commercial Plastic 7-Gallon Trash Can, Beige" that states measurements: 14.4 inches long by 10.25 inches wide by 15 inches high

I saw the Rubbermaid can on Amazon, but that seems very short for a kitchen garbage/recycling can. Unless you plan to empty frequently, and have a roll-out shelf built above to minimize wasted space. Which, if that is the only option, I'd ask the contractor to take care of, since he didn't check standard trash can sizes. Or, does he know of a brand that will fit?

Here's another one from Amazon. With handles, it's too wide, but maybe your contractor can do some judicious trimming to make it fit. Scroll down to the 'questions asked' for exact measurements.

Here's another one by Rubbermaid, called a 'Slim Jim.' One of the reviews says that the measurements were spot on, but I can't find the size anywhere in the description.

I just checked the outside top measurement of my Rev-a-shelf pull-out can. It's 14 x 10.25 x 18" tall. I built a shelf above it for a pull-out wire basket, which holds boxes of foil and plastic wrap.

I don't empty it often, but the rule is that we don't put anything really wet, smelly, or nasty in that can (no lid). The nasty stuff goes directly into a covered metal can just outside the kitchen door, in the mudroom.

Here's one that might work. (Geez, Amazon needs to hire a proof reader!!)

I have a black rubbermaid (I think) garbage can that looks like an office garbage can. I got it at home depot for $5. It is 14.5" long, 10.5"wide and 15" tall. It fits the bigger white kitchen bags and I could probably fit two into my pullout, but I have a compost bucket in there along with my garbage.

It looks kind of like this one but the dimensions are a bit smaller and mine doesn't seem to taper as much.

I just had to retrofit our built-in trash cabinet with compost and garbage bins (mandatory composting in Seattle now). I found that Simple Human had several double bin set ups with different size containers. I was able to find a pull-out unit and just used the two bins that came with it.
