Last Rose Post of The Day . . .

I spent most of the day printing the Heritage Roses Group Newsletter -- "The Rose Letter". And I am TIRED of listening to the printer . . .

So, here's one last rose photo for today . . . . A rose I thought might intrigue you . .

"Forest Ranch Pom-Pom" -- was discovered by Sherri Berglund on land associated with "General" John Bidwell . . . definitely an enigmatic and intriguing individual in the history of California.

See the HelpMeFind entry on "Forest Ranch Pom-Pom" at:

Sherri no longer operates a nursery -- so you can't order from her. My plant came from the Sacramento Historic City Cemetery, a few years ago, at their Open Garden and Rose Sale.

"FRPP" has been slow to mature here -- and sparse of bloom -- but this year, it has set many buds. The blooms on the cemetery's mature plant are much larger, however . . . so mine is still not fully up to speed, I guess.

Also, I personally have never seen the rose this dark. The second and third photos here, much lighter in color are (2) last year in my garden, and (3) from the cemetery's plant.
