Why in the world would anyone bother to make a fake rose site???

We're fine down here other than an adventure last week on a tributary of the Sacramento River after visiting the Historic Cemetery in Sacramento and picking up a rose I won in an auction. We had to take a ferry during one part of our trip home. The ferry just runs on a cable, no power of it's own and the cable snapped leaving 10 adults four children and four cars floating downstream with no power. Wow! The ferry captain dropped anchor after we had drifted about 800 yards. Three hours later a boat came to rescue us. I insisted that they also rescue my roses as I wasn't going to leave them on the river with our car. Caltrans got a van and drive us and the roses home about midnight and a tow truck delivered our car the next afternoon.

However, we do not know for a fact that this is what the site is about. Although it appears nobody who has attempted to order from them actually received merchandise, its unclear that anyone has had information stolen or compromised - it could be that this "merchant" is simply inept or extenuating circumstances have prevented them from completing orders.

That said, it appears all of the photos used on the site are stolen. In fact, several of them are mine. I contacted them twice to request they remove the stolen photos and received no response. I could pursue legal action to have my photos removed, but I decided it wasn't worth the time/energy.

Fogrose, Antique Roses is a credit card info phishing site, nothing more. Multiple attempts to contact them have failed; it uses a fake address (per Google satellite it's a residence); all the pix are stolen (ask Paul Barden, lol), and it gives hardiness zones in reverse, AKA, they think hardiness is indicated by HIGHER numbers. EVERYTHING about it is a red flag. There are more problems, but I can't think of them all, lol. DO.PLEASE.AVOID them.

Thanks Paul for your response. On Carol's suggestion I did a search on Houzz and read up on last year's thread. As a photographer myself, I can understand people's anger and frustration at having their photos used without permission.

For what it might be worth, I believe it is a front for money laundering or some other illegal activity. Bottom line: you do NOT want your name, address or financial information anywhere near this so-called company. Do you want your info turning up when they finally get raided? No? I didn't think so.

Diane, what an unplanned adventure! A little scary, too. You'd think there would be a supporting cable to back up the one that broke. Good for you making the safety of your roses a priority. OK will post a few more...these were shot today. Very misty here on the coast. Will post more as they open. I went crazy and bought a bunch of Austins. Hope I didn't throw away my money.

I've been victimized. On 1/20/17 I've ordered $71.07 worth of roses: 1 Hippolyte and 1 Mme Legras de St Germain. On the receipt it said 'Once your package ships we will send you a notification'. So on 6/5/17, I emailed them and asked when they can ship my order but received no reply. Then on 6/7/17, I asked if they would reply my email that was sent on 6/5. Still no reply so on 6/8 I decided to cancel my order and requested them to refund my money to my CC. Sadly, no reply. So on 6/9/17, I told them I was going to report them to he Better Business Bureau servicing their area. Again no reply. I realized I've been scammed so I'm now taking this matter up with my bank.

So sorry to hear about your misfortune, Jenny. There is actually a much longer thread about this site. It is disreputable and most likely illegal in every sense: either a phishing scam, CC skimmer, or identity theft site. I don't want to sound alarmist, but I would seriously consider having your bank disable the card you used and issue another one for the account with a new number, and the same for a CC if you used credit rather than debit. Tell your bank or credit card company that you fear your card has been compromised. Reference this thread and the one I'll give a link for below. If you have any automatic payments set up with that card, you'll have to go to each account and change your debit/CC info before your next payment is due. Also don't forget to change the number on any site where you store your payment info for quick checkout, like Amazon, etc. Again, so sorry. Best of luck.
