How do I stop a garage door from dripping rain on my car???!!!
Comments (22)I have the same issue and for a long time I could not figure out how the rain water is landing on top the car especially after I weather-stripped the top and sides of the door - until today when I just happened to open the garage door to clean the water mess on the car, the water came pouring through the sectionals of the door! Now it is simply not just the few drops of water that is the nuisance - if your car has some or lots of) dust the water drops create a messy look after the water drops on the car dry out - it looks really yucky on most cars and especially on a black car! If you want to go out and it is still raining, sure, the mess will be washed off but what if it is bone dry outside (sunny or not) - one is compelled to wash the mess off oneself or take the car to the car wash, unless one is ok with a messy looking car. This is quite annoying if this happens frequently as it does in the rainy season....See MoreHow do I stop my puppy from peeing in his bed?
Comments (33)This is gonna sound silly but the dog has a true case of claustrophobia. Sounds crazy, but Japanese Chin was this way. If she got locked in anywhere she would s*$# herself. I've kennel trained dogs, and my little Chin was pretty much treated like a big dog with the rest of my big dogs (you know, each around 100 lbs. She was 9 lbs when wet.) Another potential problem, his kennel is not being respected by 'young' family members. All dogs need a place to retreat and the kennel training should be reinforced that way. Even as far as keeping a sheet over it that covers the top and two sides to give it a den feel. Make sure young family members respect the space to ensure doggie feels secure and will use it naturally instead of feeling stressed from being locked in. Another potential problem is instead of a open bowl of water have a water bottle. Also put up water bowl 45 mins. prior to kenneling to help with bladder control. If all else fails consult a vet. Sometimes, wetting the bed is a sign of serious underlying issue...See MoreHow do i stop the cat from jumping on to me?
Comments (6)Your post sounds similar to one I made almost 2 years ago. I'll see if I can find it and post a link. We came to the conclusion that our cat is part siamese, and that is not uncommon in their nature. My guy has never had much luck landing on my shoulders, he just scales my back. By the time I made my post, my back was a mass of scratches and I was at my wits end. I can tell you what worked for me was to do my best to set him up for success. I came to know when he was most likely to jump me and actively avoided those situations. For example, he would invariably jump me when I was leaning over the bathroom sink washing my hair. Since the vanity area is not in the water closet, but more in the bedroom, there was no door to shut on the bathroom-- so if I was going to wash my hair, I would just close off the master bedroom and make sure he wasn't in there. At the work table where he liked to jump me, I changed my position so it was harder for him to get behind me and jump me- he rarely jumped me from the front. Time outs worked well when he seemed like he was so wound up and could not control himself. I would pick him up and gently deposit him in the master bedroom, where he had everything he needed except attention. Close off the door and leave him there for 15-20 minutes. Generally when he came out he was fine, but sometimes he was still keyed up and needed another round of time out. I think age has mellowed him too. He is 2 years old now and much better. He rarely tries to jump me. Knock on wood, it has been quite a while since he did that, but I still don't trust him fully. He also seems to like to be up high. He has a ceiling height cat tree in the family room, but could not get up into a high location in the livingroom, where we often spend our time. I have a set up for him there now where he can climb up towers of rubbermaid tubs (ugly, but not for the long term- I hope) and get on top of the entertainment center. He did seem like he got better behaved about jumping on me when we gave him more and more vertical spaces to climb. Good luck to you, I know how frustrating it is to have a jumper. Out of curiosity, does he only jump you? Or everyone in the house? Our guy only had it in for me. Comments (34)I'm not sure what Preen label you read, but the one I linked to above clearly states, "Do not over apply; injury may occur to subsequent crops yada yada ....." "To avoid plant injury, do not apply when foliage is wet." It is for use "around ESTABLISHED plants and transplants. It can be used after flowering plants have germinated and are two to three inches tall." In other words, don't use it on newly planted beds that need to establish roots in the ground. "This product is not for use on a lawn." Now why do you suppose the manufacturer would not recommend using a perfectly fine pre-emergent that inhibits root growth on the lawn? There is so much room for plant damage on that label you could grow a banyan tree in it. 'Injury' sure sounds like 'collateral plant damage' to me. I am a lapsed pesticide applicator and working gardener who knows full well how chemicals get used on houses and in gardens in the REAL WORLD. In real gardens. There is so much room for plant damage on that label in the hands of your average non-gardening home owners, it boggles the mind that you could some how overlook it. Not to mention, "This pesticide is extremely toxic to freshwater marine and estuarine fish and aquatic invertebrates ….." That most assuredly is Collateral Damage. "Aside from that, it makes NO restrictions on what plants it can be used with -." Uh yes it does. "Do not use with crops other than those listed on the label." It is a violation of federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with the labeling. But you know that. Not in the mood to discuss mitosis eh? Fine....See More- 7 years ago
