How do I stop people from calling my mom?
Comments (10)Sushi has pretty much summarized the dangers ahead. There is no way to truly screen her calls other than you or your cousin being with her 24 hours a day. Allowing her the freedom of answering her phone, puts her at risk -- for physical, financial, and emotional harm. I'm also a "been there, done that." My mom used to think she was outsmarting telemarketers by telling them that she was a widow and in ill health, so she couldn't afford to buy their products. Some of the callers had her name and some address info. I'd tell her over and over again that she was saying too much and that the callers could come to the house. She'd promise to do better, but the next time I'd see her, she'd proudly relate how she told off a telemarketer. Eventually she moved to an assisted living facility and the situation was better. The address change in addition to the phone number change lessened the frequency of calls. When she moved into the memory care wing, her phone did not move with her. As far as doctors, etc., do what sushi recommends. Make yourself or your cousin the contact person. That's what I did with my mom even before she moved to assisted living. Perhaps you could "train" your mom to always defer to either you or your cousin when answering questions over the phone. For example, "I'm sorry. You need to talk to my daughter/niece about this. She takes care of everything for me." There's always the possibility of changing her phone number to a new and unlisted number....See MoreHow to stop my cat from peeing on piles-clothes and trash bags?!
Comments (2)I have been having this problem with my cat for years. There is a chance she has a UTI, so like everyone will tell you, take her to the vet as soon as possible. Peeing outside the box is her way of telling you SOMETHING, and there is a good chance that she may be in pain and is trying to get your attention. You should have at least 2 if not 3 litter boxes in the house. (The rule is one per cat plus an extra = 3) Also isolate her from whatever she is peeing on, if that's possible. If she constantly pees in the bedroom or the laundry room, don't allow her in those rooms. Do her and the kitten get along well? I wouldn't think it would be related to the kitten if he has already been around for 6 months. Take her to the vet as soon as you can, aka: this week if possible! They can spay her and check for any other issues at the time. Trust me when I say there is nothing more frustrating than a cat refusing to use the litter box! Try to nip this problem immediately and hopefully you can save yourself years of cleaning bed sheets, clothes, replacing items, etc....See MoreHow do I keep the cat from shutting of my gas?
Comments (11)I think a cover is beyond my engineering skills. My meter is flanked by a hose bib and garden hose on one side and my upstairs neighbor's meter on the other (the pic above isn't my meter). It's a whole mess of pipes and hoses. Plus, if the cat jumps on the meter, you know he would jump on a cover, so it would have to be anchored in a way that it didn't transmit vibrations to the meter. Though I like the idea of the cat trying to wrangle with a thorny plant, the walkway is pretty narrow and I think it would interfere with people as well. Sadly....See MoreHow to stop my cat from licking wound or old scar?
Comments (2)First, she should be seen by a vet. The area could be a skin issue or could even be a tumor that's getting worse. A lot of times pets lick an area because it's hurting. Covering it up when she's so uncomfortable would only make her more stressed. Please have her checked out before it gets worse....See Morejan2
