its a heresy but I just don't like it.
Comments (42)Melissa, that is certainly food for thought. The original Duchesse is gone because over half of her died in the terribly hot summer last year. I've gotten a replacement band now which is growing nicely and hopefully will bloom this summer, but I'll certainly reserve judgment about it until it has at least another year under its belt. I wouldn't have discarded the original Duchesse if she had been able to tough it out. My new band is from Vintage and Gregg Lowery assured me after I posted above that his plants are from a very old specimen of DdB which is full-petaled and my band should have at least 25-30 petals, so I'm hopeful. It does make sense that an older plant would perform better. Certainly Westside Road Cream Tea's initial flowers looked nothing like the flowers it's putting out now, even in February. They're now about twice as large and 100% more shapely than the flowers I saw the first 6-8 months. Ingrid...See MoreHelp I can't get rid of my lambs ear and I really don't like it.
Comments (18)I figure I could add something years later since other people added comments a year later. I moved into a rental house in Boulder, CO that had very well done perennial beds around the time this original post was written. It's been neglected for 7 or 8 years or so, especially the last 3 years. I can tell from Google maps the last year the lambs really took out for the rest of the beds and even the yard. I've been digging, pulling and now have covered an entire bed with clear plastic to kill the seeds before I'll consider planting there. The roots have formed an impenetrable mass and are sometimes thicker than my thumb. They have smaller roots finding them all together. I think if I were building a prairie Sod house I would be thrilled to find these. I'm constantly facing masses of sprouts and churning them over with hopes of killing most of them. We live in a Bee Safe neighborhood, and I don't think Round Up would have helped much anyway. I put an ad on craigslist and I've had many people haul garbage bags of plants away but eventually I got tired of answering the text-I think I had probably 50 people take A wavering amounts of these plants. I've never had them spread before but I stay on top of them, possibly since I use them in flower arrangements or pull them out as soon as they stray out of their designated area. I've discovered I now despise them and I don't think I'll ever let them grow again. I see them downwind from our yard and I'm tempted to go pull them now to spare them future agony- especially since it's likely the seeds came from here in the first place....See MoreI like football, I don't love it...
Comments (44)After a Seahawks win, people in my neighborhood shoot off fireworks. I've chatted with friends who live in different areas, and the same thing happens in their neighborhoods. I escorted a group of Chinese airline customers to the 2018 Seahawks - Dallas game. We had the Boeing suite, complete with catering. I don't typically go to football games. People in the cheap seats stand during the game, and affording a ticket in better seats is a bit pricey. I was a bit surprised by the reaction of these Chinese customers. I thought that they wouldn't be interested or understand what is going on. But they loved it. And they especially loved the Sea Gals. I saw a couple of the customers recording them, particularly when they jumped up and down. They weren't recording their pretty faces, lol....See MoreAnyone tried Bubble Tea? Like it? Don't like it?
Comments (38)There are a lot of tea-boba shops here in the Sacramento area. My granddaughters enjoy many of their offerings. I really dont care about the boba additions, but I really like the slushies. They’re usually dairy free. The thing I really enoy about these kinds of shops is that they always have a passion fruit flavor. It’s a something I really like but is hard to find. I’ve found that at most shops, you have an option of various levels of sweetness. I usuallly go with no sweetener or the next to last level. So, I’m happy to end up at a tea/boba shop with my family. A passion fruit slushie is a treat for me....See Morestu2900
