Gosh. I wish I could help. The only thing I wonder is: is it a separate female laying the eggs from the one eating them? Are you sure it's the same female? Have you googled it? I wonder if she feels the need for more calcium, but then she may have a problem laying them? The only other suggestion I have is to go to bluebirdnutcafe.com & ask there. There are tons of experienced bluebirders on that site that have helped me. I sure hope someone can help you!

Yes, I have watched with our camera system and itis the same female...She does the same thing,builds a nest,makes the egg cup while spreading her wings and wiggling down at the same time,then she lays 3 eggs and seems like she is sitting on them but every once in awhile she does the wing flapping on them like she is making that egg cup,then after doing that for a day or two ,we have actually watched her eat them ,all 3 eggs..!! Now, she is in the progress of building her 3rd nest...I am completely confused with this behavior....do you think I should close up my 2 nest boxes for awhile and see if i can attract a new female??This is so heart-breaking for me...I tried getting on the bluebirdnut.cafe and i can't get on it so I am here looking for help...Thank You for responding,I really apprciate more thanever..!!!

Thanks so much...The 3rd nest is built,now I am waiting to see what happens next...I am wondering if she has another nest somewhere and is busy there.She doesn't seem to be around too much lately,just checks in now and then,leaves but if another bird such as tree swallows come around both the male and female appear and chase them away... This is by far the strangest Blue Bird Season I have ever encountered....I just have a feeling this will be My very first season of not having any Blue Bird Babies..!! Thanks, and I will keep you posted also....
