Comments (15)Lux again, after considering everything, I think the failure of Marachal Niel' to thrive, might be the clone. Because in the same bed, and c. 7-8 feet on- center from M.N. is a 'Mrs. B.R. Cant' that was given to me as a house present in January 2013, it arrived in a gallon pot and was c. 8 inches tall by nearly as wide, now it has grown to be c. 3 feet tall by nearly as wide in less than 7 months. I had planned to keep it in that bed for a couple years until it grew to be about 3 feet tall until I had cleared a strip of lawn to move it to, but it's grown three times faster than I thought it would have done. I'm still moving Marachal Niel' to a rosebed that gets a couple hours of afternoon shade, because two canes are sunburnt at the top of the plant, The yellowing leaves may be due to using Epson salts, this year and last, a tip I read in an English rose book. I should have understood that a method and means used in England may not be a good thing to use in California, because our soil and climate is so different. Thanks again, Lux....See MoreYellowing leaves on annabelle and E.S.
Comments (2)Jean 001 thank you so much for your reply, I've been following y our advice and watering less often and more deeply. I believe that you were right...I tend to rush the watering, sometimes saturating the top soil, but probably not getting deep enough. I've invested in a soaking hose (Home Depot $27) and this allows me to water slowly, with deeper irrigation, and no run off. And in addition to shallow watering, I think that I was also watering too ofen...everytime I saw that the plants looked wilted (usually late in day). But I'm noticing , that the plants perk right up overnight, often without watering. Unless we have a really hot day. Now I have one more question...The plants are looking a deeper green...the yellowing leaves have stopped advancing....but will the yellow leaves go back to healthy green again?...See MoreYellow green leaves on Clothilde Soupert--normal?
Comments (9)dublinkay, I hope your 'CS' sorts herself out. I will briefly mention that my 'Mutabilis' had leaves about that color at the beginning of the year. It seemed perfectly healthy otherwise, so I wondered if the paler leaves could be because we'd had so little sunshine, so I did not repot or feed it, and when we got sunnier weather, the leaf color returned to normal. Probably not what's going on with your rose, if she is getting plenty of sun, but if she's in a location where she should have been getting sun, but the weather wasn't cooperating...? Just thought I'd mention an alternative possibility. Virginia...See MoreLight green to Yellowing leaves
Comments (11)Given the uniform yellowing of ALL the leaves throughout the plant and the browning of the veins - iron deficiency in conjunction with nitrogen deficiency would be my opinion. I don't recall if your soil test showed Iron levels or not but I'd pick up some Ironite. When you said you "added" MG" do you mean you dissolved it in water and used it as a root drench? Miracle Grow All Purpose Water Soluble fertilizer? If so I'd give them a full dose (1 T per gallon of water) and then cut way back on the water until they begin to show new growth that is green - if they do. It may be too late.
