Argh. I can totally picture this kitchen with the Karndean and I love it in my mind. But would I get tired of it? I just don't know.

I'm totally on the blue marmoleum train.

I'm not even a blue person, but I love that one with the two-tone blue squares.

Fori posted Marmoleum Laguna. It was one that I considered for my kitchen. Nixed it in the end because the sample didn't show any sign of aqua, just a sort of baby blue. I was first drawn to their Lapis Lazuli, and in the end that's what I ended up going with. I have almost 300 square feet in the garage waiting for install, so I guess you could say I'm on the blue marmoleum train as well.And I think if you love it, do it!

Since your two toned cabinets are both light rather than contrasting, I don't think you need to go subdued, but you may want to consider a solidish color rather than the stained glass effect in the Michelangelo.

I think the emphasis on "subdued" is more to make sure I don't go crazy with it. On the one hand, I love the idea of Michelangelo or something bright, but on the other hand I am afraid that in the end it might be too much for me and/or I would get tired of it. If we paint a wall in a bright color I can just repaint, and even a backsplash could be redone (we will probably only do it over the sink, not the whole wall), but a floor (or colored cabinets) is such a commitment. That said, so far my fave is the first one Fori posted, followed by cawaps' first two.

This is all so me. A desire to be bold, followed by fear, or at least uncertainty. Anyone here watch Santa Clarita Diet? It's like the 1st episode where Sheila says "I wish I was bold. Am I bold? No, I'm not. I'd like to be 20 percent bolder. No, 80 percent. No …that's too much."

So I guess we're all okay with blue, huh? A smokey blue like the second one Caligirl posted would let you have a "grown up" blue and then you could go Big Blue on accessories/paint/less permanent stuff.

I think so. And there is blue in the dining room and foyer so it will blend.

I can't wait to start looking at counter materials. I think that's one thing that will be hard to do online. I mean, I'll want to see all my materials IRL at some point, but I can deal with pictures of cabinets and floor tile for a while. Countertops I need to see soon.

And did I mention we will (hopefully) be doing a bathroom gut remodel soon? Like, possibly start in a month? And we don't have all our stuff yet? I probably should shift my focus to that, but the kitchen stuff is more exciting. The bathroom is in the basement and will be for the kids, so it's not exciting.

I love the 3 marmoleums that cawaps posted. I dont love the Michelangelo by kardean because the pattern is too busy for me. I would totally do a blue floor. One of my friends has blue tile in kitchen laundry powder and I love it now and loved it when she put it in 12 -15 years ago. I did blue (solid aqua) in my kids bath 2 houses ago and while I loved it, I did feel like it showed every speck of dirt.

I love all the floors. One benefit with the Karndean (which I think is wonderful!) is it will not show the dirt al all. I had a similar faux mosaic tile floor in my previous kitchen that never looked dirty. I lived with that floor for 16 years and was still happy with it when we sold.

We installed new flooring in my new home last fall and I wish I'd seen that Karndean Michelangelo before we did!

Swirly Marmoleum doesn't show dirt too bad, unless we're considering red wine to be dirt...whatever you get, run a dirt and stain test before committing.

(I just got a bunch of freeeeeeeee samples of Marmoleum from Forbo. Alas, the spouse thinks it would be far too 1930s retro to do a linoleum counter. )

No way. This is the place to go with your crazy colors. Kids' bathrooms can be fun and zany and if it's excessively zany, blame it all on them. And it's in the basement. Snooty company will never see it.

I love the blues! But I think the ones with other colors mixed in play better on the floor.

all the pricey and well thought out aspects to a kitchen remodel..why draw eyes to a floor? Baaaaaathroom-ok.

Laughing about the bathroom here. No, no fancy floor in there. We're not spending much. It was a handyman's special, with about 8 different kinds of tile, a pink (inside) shower, and even some floor tile on the wall. Rusted out sink, uneven floor. A mess. When it's done it will be mostly white, but we will splurge a tiny bit on a Susan Jablon blended glass tile backsplash in blues and a mirrored pin dot. Otherwise, maybe a blue wall or two and some brightly colored towels. My boys are 13 and almost 10 and don't care a lot. I am just looking forward to getting it done b/c I don't like sharing a bathroom!
