I bought my first Adenium
Comments (14)Hi Kirk and Laura, thanks for the input. I decided to pot up today. I bare-rooted the plant and raised it slightly to expose more of the Caudex. Hi Mark, to answer your question, I bought it at a small garden center in Cd. Juarez. Are you familiar with Juarez? I could tell you where it is at. I also saw similar plants at the HD in Juarez, but they were a bit more expensive there. I saw some larger Adenium plants at the Walmart near Airway Blvd. in El Paso in the spring, I have not been back there since May so not sure if they still have them. That Walmart usually carries really nice, large succulents in the Spring, just FYI. Hi Marie and Thank You!...See MoreAdenium with fuzzy leaves?
Comments (2)Hi Lady_ee! I also have an adenium with fuzzy leaves! I rescued it this past august from walmart with some rot and one leaf, which I didn't notice was fuzzy or not. However, it has since totally recovered, and put out tons of healthy leaves, which all are kind of velvety fuzzy to the touch... at first I thought it was some kind of bug, and wiped them every day with alcohol, but that didnt change it, the fuzz didnt wipe off, and the plant seems very happy, so now I'm thinking it is not bugs, and just some weird trait? Sorry I cant actually help, but perhaps we could enroll them in some sort of support group together ;) Also, congrats about the flower buds! please post pictures when they open! Best, Willow...See MoreFirst flower buds!!!!
Comments (12)Thanks everyone! I have these growing under 4 T8s which are on 16 hours a day. I want to say I read somewhere that the streaks in the throat are a sign of crispum ancestry, can anyone confirm?...See MoreAdenium obseum 'Joy Rich' and 'Scorpio' first flowers.
Comments (14)Despite pouring rain, I did manage to get some more photos. First, Scorpio with the flower more open and the second bloom about to pop behind it. I expect later flowers will look better and more full as the plant get some size to it. Here's a shot showing the entire plant in full and how the wound has healed so far. It was cut back in May, originally. Shows you the scale of the flower as well as how the wound is already much less obvious an starting to round off with hints of green. And here is a close up view of it. Despite the black cracks, poking at it with my fingernails or a skewer does not indicate any softness. It's all firm. Even so, I would like to chip and peel off some of the super glue to be /sure/ there is no additional rot for a piece of mind. But so far it looks good and the caudex is quite turgid....See MoreJohn
