Can someone help with plant identity?
Comments (10)Felix, your suggestions are both plants that look really similar, but I think Minibim's got it. Trumpet creeper has a very differenly shaped bloom, for one thing. I don't know anything about iresine except that I keep seeing it in stores. Anyone here really love it? Marcia...See MoreRaptor down, request advise.
Comments (5)Alright people, I've got great news! :) First of all, after writing my post over here - I went outside to check on the bird. He (or she) was standing in the early morning sunlight. So in such good light conditions, I saw that the eye was not destroyed! The wound was actually very close to the left eye, and so because of the swelling the eye was closed. I could see the 3rd eyelid working. So I guess this means that the eyeball is safe. Therefore I hope and pray that soon (after the wound will heal) everything will go back to normal. Anyway as I was saying, yesterday morning I saw that he (or she) was soaking up the early morning sunlight. So about an hour afterwards I went outside to feed it some meat. Now just as the bird saw me walking up to him, he immediately flew to my left side - Very quickly circled (at about 8 feet high in the air), and came right at me! I at once ducked, otherwise I am 100% sure that my eyes would have been taken out! I just saw something very big, coming right at me from the sun - So I simply said time to hit the deck... :) Anyway when I got up, I couldn't see the bird anywhere. So I went up on the roof. And there I found it soaring freely. Then I noticed something else too. And that was, a little before the sun had come - There was another Kite hawk making noises nearby. I am now sure that he or she was the mate of the injured bird! So just as my bird flew away, that bird joined it in the air and then they both started making their calls! They did not fight, rather it was almost as if they were practicing synchronized flight! :) Anyway I now have a picture, I got one of them flying - The other one was just outside the camera's frame....See MoreCan someone help me identity this punchbowl set?
Comments (25)Thank you. I of course said $200 not because of what Replacements said they would want for it, but on a wholesale price. BTW, there is a great market of younger folks who will buy this stuff. I am only 32 and I collect glass... I also know of a few friends who also enjoy glass and antiques. So, this market is NOT "dried up." Many people in my generation like to buy antiques and vintage items (Including punch bowls) Because they are well made. I am constantly shopping at antique, consignment and thrift stores. I prefer them over the crap they sell at Walmart and Ikea. If you have trouble selling something like this on eBay... look into a consignment store with an internet store....See MoreCan someone identify these unusual chairs?
Comments (11)Thanks, my3dogs. Following palimpsest's posting, I did go out to 1stdibs and searched and found the listing you posted. Yes, those are the exact same chairs, although I "only" have a set of 4. I see that even the dealer on 1stdibs who is selling his set of 6 also doesn't know the original manufacturer or any specific details, but I never would have guessed "eucalyptus wood" so that is one more piece to the puzzle that I hadn't had before. I'm just surprised that for such visually striking chairs in such a unique design, essentially no details have survived to be posted on the internet......See Moretmff
