Within a few years, many more paint companies' colorants will be "Proprietary". (In way, they are all proprietary now, because every co. has slightly different versions/colors of their colorants) I've been at an ACE for almost a decade now. We don't have BM by choice. We've got C2 for our high-end line and haven't looked back! Like BMs' upper lines, C2 has more than 12 colorants available to match colors from other lines (16 available). So yes....it's much easier to match INTO a paintline that uses more colorants. Going the OTHER direction RARELY works, and is usually optically impossible. A color made with 6 or 7 colorants (some that are high-strength too...) is technically impossible to match into a company that only has 10 or 11 colorants. A little late, but I'll throw in my $.02 worth. Whomever said that the VOC level is not responsible for the paint smell is partially correct. The ingredients that are regulated as VOC's may or may not have a smell. Acrylic, the main resin in paint and not a VOC, does have a smell. Many manufacturers add formaldehyde precursors that create a smell during the cure. Unregulated VOC's, such as ammonia, acetone and butyl acetate are quite odiferous. Thats why some zero-voc paints smell MORE than standard paint. Paint manufacturers also sometimes add chemical masking agents that help to cut down on the aroma, but these chemicals may be more dangerous than the aroma's they are negating.

Super Paint fades quite quickly if you have a lot of direct sun exposure. It's just a medium grade paint really. Regal is fairly good, but Aura is better. You should use the best paint you can if you only want to do it every 10 years.

Hi - I would get a paint chip or sample from SW rather than rely on Samplize solely, as a source colour reference. I would ask how well they feel able to match SW Fleeting Green at BM also. Sometimes they will know which of their matches are most accurate. Then get a quart in the grade & sheen you are after. You can even paint a swatch in store, let it dry and ask them to compare the results. They have handouts with samples of sheen finish in store. There aren’t always direct sheen matches between companies as there isn’t a national standard as such - but a range for each sheen/gloss. But before all that just check Fleeting Green against Swept Away, to see if you could live with the differences. It may save the cost of a custom mix. Whichever you choose to sample, paint on either Swatchright paint/peel/stick decals or board (2 coats) to test in your room. That way you have the flexibility to move them into both light and shadow. Both colours have the potential to shift blue in certain imbalanced lighting. So you want to know how they will behave in your space.
