Paint help please-need SW or Behr color match to BM Olive Branch
Comments (1)SW has all the Ben Moore color formulas in their computer. If you want a match, just go to their store and ask them for it. It's easy. :)...See Moresw resilience vs. bm regal..mix and match
Comments (5)Not true. Doesn't even make proper sense. So, you have a BenM color matched using SW product. If indeed this "bleed out" business were true then that would mean all the Sherwin Williams original colors that are similar in colorant content/formula to the Ben Moore custom match would not hold up and "bleed out" too. Again if true, 99% of us would be living with faded out, washed out exteriors. And that isn't the case. I can agree that exterior colors in various brand's palettes have been tested for color fastness, weathering, and what not and thus designated appropriate for exterior. And when you have a custom color made for exterior you don't have that extra undercurrent of color science built in. You're kind of at the mercy of the paint store to use the right combo of colorants that can go exterior -- should be a no brainer tho because you can't *just* shoot interior exclusive tints into exterior base. Slight loophole for an argument to not cross brands, not a big one tho IMO especially if flexible on the color match....See MoreSW paint that matches BM Revere Pewter...
Comments (2)Worldly Gray and Colonnade Gray are both decent equivalents to RP. You don't need to understand the numbers here. What you're looking for is how the colors compare and how they're similar/different....See MoreCan BM match a SW color?
Comments (23)The key is if the match can be close enough. Professional painters usually box the paint (mix multiple gallons) because two cans from the same store can be slightly different. A gallon is often a little different than the sample. Two different stores can have slightly different calibration on their tinting machines. Dry time impacts color, so painting two walls on days that are more than 10 degrees different in temperature can change the color or spraying vs rolling (sprayed paint dries faster). Two different lines of paint from the same manufacturer will not be identical. If you painted the interior of your home BM White Dove and your neighbor painted the interior of their home BM Cotton no one would be able to tell that there was a difference. I recently painted my guest bedroom. I originally selected BM Beach Glass, but found that in the afternoon, when the light shined through the window, the color turned powder blue. It bothered me. I decided change the color to SW Silvermist. SInce I am using BM all over the house and want the same sheen/finish on all the walls, I had BM color match SW Silvermist. When I said I repainted, my sisters and one of my friends who had helped paint the room Beach Glass couldn't tell that I changed the color. I knew because the next afternoon when I looked into the room I didn't see the baby blue wall where the sun was shining. One of my friends had recently asked me to help her choose a color for her spare room. We decided on SW Comfort Gray. When she saw my guest bedroom she said "You picked the same color for your room as you picked for my guest bedroom." Comparing the colors next to each other it is obvious that the colors are different, but seeing them individually in different rooms or different homes or at different times, they all are blue green. I would get a color matched sample of each and create a painted sample of each. Look at them next to each other, then look at them 6' apart and see if the difference is noticeable when they are not next to one another. Who knows, you may prefer the color matched color....See MoreMarylee H
