Have you ever been so sick you thought you're going to die?
Comments (56)Well what a great report from you, pitimpinai!! The last I heard you were still very low in energy and still on a ton of medication and little appetite, and listen to you, helping the neighbor till up a lawn! LOL What a nice neighbor you were to plant tomatoes and Dahlias. :-) I am happy to hear that you've also benefited from a shorter work day. Great that you had all that time off saved up. I bet you really needed it to get your energy back. We have gotten pretty much back to what is normal for us here. The weather has been stupendous in the past month! I have never seen the cover crop in the veggie beds so high. We've also gotten all the leaves mowed and collected in bins, ours and three neighbors. [g] We have gotten somewhat cleaned up for the year in the garden, but I keep adding to my list of what I want to get done before the weather turns. Still have a small amount of bulbs to plant and three shrubs to get in the ground, some pots to clean and put away and that will just about do it. I am actually looking forward to a break from the garden. Not that we don't get outside and enjoy it, but it's nice this time of year, to focus on other things. During the gardening season, the garden seems to push out other priorities. [g] I enjoy the winter garden and by the time spring comes, I am just itching to get back to a new growing season. Glad you are able to enjoy gardening again and hope you stay well this winter! :-)...See MoreCare to share? Do you volunteer, or have you ever?
Comments (26)Natesgram, I've worked in a NICU for 15 years and I can't tell you how much we appreciate those fleece blankets for our babies. We also have local volunteers who make isolette covers to keep the environment dark for our babies because it is developmentally appropriate (they shouldn't be born yet). Have you ever seen one? And when my late grandmother was getting chemo for pancreatic cancer, she was really appreciative of the person who made her a cozy fleece for when she got her weekly chemo infusions. I just want to send a big thank you to you for your work, because I know how much such those small things mean from the other side of the fence. Yes, I volunteer. I have volunteered in the medical tent for the NYC marathon for several years. This was before children. After 911 I volunteered making sandwiches for the rescue workers at ground zero. Before I started my career as a PA I volunteered at my local hospital transporting specimens to the lab and escorting patients out of the hospital. Currently I volunteer as a girl scout leader for my 9 year old's girl scout troop. I was never a girl scout as a child, so I am learning as I go. Even though I rolled my eyes when I was asked, I truly enjoy the girls and having a positive influence on them. We are currently involved in a project in building butterfly gardens in our community to restore monarch butterfly habitats. It is so much fun seeing these girls get involved. My mom is getting ready for retirement, she has been volunteering at our local animal shelter. I think she has always been involved in some sort of volunteer project for as long as I can remember. I guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree. :)...See MoreWhat is the most valuable item you have ever found?
Comments (20)definately my husband. found him, tatty and discarded, sitting on the curb after he'd been dumped by a girl who wasn't fit to serve him drinks. he's been priceless ever since :) but stuff? I paid a buck for a yard 'and a bit' of relatively modern Fortuny fabric - orange, with a white over-print in a flower-and-urn pattern. covered ten switchplate covers with it for my house, two small photo albums, one of which I sold for $40, the other I gave to the lady who taught me to recognize good fabric...and the remaining yard's worth a hundred bucks or so. paid a buck for a piece of Haegar (?) pottery for a friend - apparantly, the purple and blue stuff is rarer than the blue and green glazes? and this spring, I found a little pen and ink sketch in a pile of much better art work. ugly little thing, of a guy in sunglasses and a loud shirt. thought it looked familiar, paid $10 for it, figuring to frame it for a friend who's a huge Hunter S Thompson fan. turned out not to be such a friend, in the end...but the sketch was for real, and earned me half a mortgage payment....See MoreHave you returned a bathtub that you purchased online
Comments (13)I returned a cast iron tub that was defective that I bought through Amazon.ca Getting it in and out of my house was insane though. And yes it was free delivery and a free return but it was only curbside delivery to protect themselves from issues if something was broken or damaged by them bringing it in. This was just my experience though and I'm thankful that it worked out ok but I chose an acrylic tub from a local retailer after going through all of that....See MoreMary506
